I can't see Wright going unless we have someone lined up to come in, Arby should be 100% by Christmas so I'm expecting to see him on the bench October time. Gooch was taken off as a precaution I believe and o'Nien can slot in fr Pritchard.

Like I say not good enough to go up far too good to go down

Because those players that are currently in our squad won’t be near relegation. If you think it’s a distinct possibility then pile on but we both know you won’t because it just won’t happen. It’s nonsense to say we’re going down, just nonsense.

Don't think Wyke will ever get close to doing that again like, but I absolutely agree with the need for pace and creativity, along with a bit of strength, we still don't look very imposing in the centre of midfield. We looked small against sides last season and we will do so again this season.

Take Will Grigg as an example. He followed the money as you say. However, he seems far happier and more effective playing for more low profile clubs.

Unfortunately I can't see us going up unless we get in two 1st choice full backs, two 2nd choice full backs, a centre half to play alongside Doyle (we won't get a full season out of Wright IMHO) a goal scoring midfielder and a striker capable of 15+ goals

That's half the 1st team required t go up.

If you are that convinced we will go down stick some cash on it.

But there are some poor poor teams in League 1 and we are no where near as bad as some of them

First of all nowhere did I say that relegation is a certainty it should never be dismissed just to keep people on their toes. I am quite confortably off, possibly because I didn’t throw money away at the bookmakers.

The squad is strong enough. We still have the core of last season's team and have added quality in Doyle, Evans and Pritchard together with Embleton, Neil and Younger coming in.
As it stands we may not have enough depth to sustain a promotion but we absolutely will NOT be relegated. Zero chance. Less than zero
 
Relegation, ffs. Honestly, this place needs therapy.

I think the amount of signings we've brought in is sub-optimal, especially at the back where we have real issues going into the first game. We have no full-backs, primarily.

On the other hand, I think we have a good group of youngsters emerging who will feel like new signings - neil, embleton - and I actually think we will be better going forward than last year as/is. I think we will have a much less stodgy midfield and a more mobile forward line.

Furthermore, do I want us to sign a more dominant centre-back? Yes. But if you are honestly telling me that Doyle-Wright or even Wright-Flanagan is a bottom-half League one centre back pairing... it's just not. Not at all.

It may not be as good as we had with Sanderson (or, for that matter, Parky's safety first three at the back, which, whatever else you say about it, racked up a fair few clean sheets). But I don't think we are going to be a bad team for the first six games or so and therefore do think we have time on our side to deliver quality additions. I actually think if you look towards the more credible links - which I am doing obsessively, like many I'm sure - then you can see a clear and well-thought through pattern of how we will play and what positions we know we need to bring in.

The whole league, other than a few teams, are in the same boat too.

think a lot is being put on the shoulders of stewart and imo cant see him hitting 20 plus but maybe 10/12 so we have to find goals from else where from the signing i think 5/6 teams look much stronger than us at the top ,we need to get 5/6 more quality players in at the moment no scoring mf players if we play 433 we need more pace , us the fans know this lj needs to start ,making a bold statement by getting these type players in so the fan get onboard imagine the toxsic reaction first game of the season if beat ad wyke or power hits the winner, lj saying could be 2/3 weeks into the season before the team has balance when others have done ther bussiness weeks before and on the way to gelling before the big kick off.
 
It's rather slow, it's true.
But before the advent of the transfer window, clubs could sign players all through the season, in fact Newcastle did this during 1991-92.
Intetestingly nobody then harped on about "time to bed in". Lack of bedding in time didn't stop their side romping the league.
If decent players are signed, they'll know their job. Sure, they'll need to learn the last 5 percent.... But there are still plenty weeks left of the window .chill.
 
Once upon a time you fancied a player and if he wanted to move paid his club a transfer fee and agreed his wages. Nowadays with agents the player will get hawked around other clubs and you have to agree how much you are going to pay not only the player but the agent.
Just pay them what they want is often to comment on here, we did for Will Grigg and look how that turned out.
Realistically there probably aren’t that many players who we want who also want to sign, not everyone we want to sign is a lads fan who would pack their bags and move here immediately

I can’t see any other way then being patient, try and find the odd diamond in the rough and develop our own players. If we get promotion it might be easier as players could see us as a big club heading on the up once more
