That's my thoughts debunked then.

I could be wrong, but I think with the older players like Diva and Azhar Mahmood for example, there seems to be some sort of unwritten rule that they won't be considered for England, but younger lads who must come over on the same passports and rules, get considered.
 
There's nothing in the rules though which is why you have players like Trott and Pattinson who come over in their early to mid 20's and end up playing for England.

Isn't it that you are allowed to play in the EU as a non-overseas player because their country has signed a trade agreement with the EU (in effect making you an EU citizen with freedom of employment throughout the EU).

Di Venuto isn't a Kolpak player because he plays on an Italian passport, nothing to do with Australia being a trade partner. Did he just not want to play for England? I assume always harboring ambitions of a return to the Aussie side?

That could be right, I think there is some confusion as to who is actually classed as a kolpak player and who are just playing on EU passports.
