Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Always thought storage arches from the old Staithes would be good for developing maybe into some small retail units. I guess it would be no good for food and drinks now the sheepfolds is there though.

Seems to be taking them ages to get the job done. I would imagine they'll rain in December and January knocked them back a bit because it collects a canny bit water. Apart from that the path wasn't even that bad tbh.

Weather probably didn't help. When the done the old railway track from Ryhope down to Crimdon it was done with grants that Sustrans got and was completed in a few months. There was talk they were going to tarmac the line from Silky to Ryhope too, but that never come off.
That bit next to the a19 needed doing like. On the sunderlandbigbikeride kids had to peddle through a 2 foot puddle 😂

Godsend those crimdon-shotton lines being tarmacced, always on them.

On the bit next to nissan seen a biker on it friday but its fenced off about 200m from a19.

Is the path down to the river outside Sheepfolds open yet?
Wasn’t on Friday when I ran past.

When I used to go down on the bikes I used to get down in between the allotments at Kier Hardy way. It’ll make a canny little trot out from mine, down to the river & back up through the park. Ideal to take the bairn out on the bikes too cos it avoids all the roads.
