I love the bridge and the way it connects the SoL with the city centre. I still think the overall finish of the tarmac and the drains that are coming loose already is poor and it should’ve been finished with the same paving that’s outside Sheepfolds
there’s a cocktail/pizza restaurant and a cafe opening downstairs in The Beam - cafe overlooking the bridge and the river

They've been on for months tarmacing the path that goes round the field just next Hylton bridge. The diversion takes you over the bridge into Washington and round Cherry blossom way, over the A19 and back towards Wessington way. Been on months with it now.

Its closed all the way along the side of wessington way from the a19 junction... I had to divert through Nissan & over the footbridge at the air museum.

Seems to be taking them ages to get the job done. I would imagine they'll rain in December and January knocked them back a bit because it collects a canny bit water. Apart from that the path wasn't even that bad tbh.
Weather probably didn't help. When the done the old railway track from Ryhope down to Crimdon it was done with grants that Sustrans got and was completed in a few months. There was talk they were going to tarmac the line from Silky to Ryhope too, but that never come off.

Once the cobbled underpass is open it will make a nice route down to the Riverside and along to the Harbour / Seafront.
