Walked back over the Monkwearmouth Bridge last night. Was slightly quicker than the Keel Bridge after Everton because the bottleneck wasn't there (and was there at Easington Street leading up to Sheepfolds). Either way it's quicker than it was before with less congestion so win-win all round.

47 years been going to Sunderland always drank near the ground on the North side .Went over the town and had a drink in the Firestation ,the bridge is a game changer 20 years too late .

Vaux could have moved the Brewery themselves to some cheap out of town land, got grants etc, and developed the site themselves and made an absolute fortune, with the Brewery sitting on prime City Centre land.
It took twenty years for the Vaux site to be developed so even if we leave aside the squabbling between the council, Tesco, Uncle Tom Cobley and all I’m not sure that reputable developers were lining up to pay an absolute fortune to Vaux.
I make the most fleeting appearance in that video.
Tarmac on the bridge is a let down tbh!Quality paving everywhere on the route from the town to the stadium but the bridge .....not a major issue but a let down for me ..I cannot believe it was in the original design?Somebody on here will know im sure?
