Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Canny video below. The lad is one of the first to walk over and then turns straight back round and walks back filming everyone. If you walked over to the match there's a good chance your face will be on here.

Good video showing the perspective of the people coming towards you

Not sure I understand how it works as a cycling route (unless they are planning to add some surface markings) - there is no segregation from pedestrians and it is likely to cause problems if people are cycling over and mingling with pedestrians.
No need to segregate when the volumes of pedestrians and cyclists are low like in this context. There's plenty of width as well so it'll be no hassle at all.

I went over today during my dinner and two cyclists passed me with plenty of room. That was while a big lorry and workmen were on it doing something to the side as well.

Probably right most of the time but say 1pm on a match day, lowish volumes going across on foot but enough to make cycling a danger. It's not without risks IMO, like people cycling on regular pavements.
Literally no need for that at all outside of match days. It's a great cycle connection.
How do you regulate that though? There were stewards on the bridge at the busy times last Saturday but it won't be all day surely.

Probably needs some signage or markings to be done right though that would spoil the aesthetic a bit.

I get what you’re saying. Even when out with the Mrs we prefer pubs to restaurants. Normally get a late take away rather than a meal somewhere. Some on here will be horrified.
I know. I don’t think anyone has suggested we go for food on a night out since we were kids and went for a new year curry. It’s a pub crawl or nothing. People might think oh is Herbal being contrary again, but I have 2 or 3 groups of mates and they’re all the same.

Ideally what the city needs is loads of different types of people who like doing loads of different types of things

Just walked over from City Hall way to Sol with my wife. Lovely walk and really quick to the sol. Game changer. Only problem is.......already, the rubbish on the bridge. McDonald's cartons, Greggs wrappers just left on the bridge. Was a bit scruffy already. Can people not take pride in anything nowadays??
That's most places. Local park to me, tesco meal deals, greggs, plastic bottles and nitrous oxide canisters. Almost like people think these things just miraculously disappear. We need to move away from plastic bottles and have deposits on glass as per the days of the old Villa pop. We need to be looking at environmental taxes on all this non recyclable packaging. Yes, bridge open a few days and people no pride.

Think they have returns on plastic bottles in the Netherlands. We need that here. People go in search of them. Saves a fair bit on Council cleaning.

Probably be seen as woke nonsense.

It regulates itself through people having common sense. No one wants to cycle through a busy pedestrian space, it's a nightmare.
