Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Just walked over from City Hall way to Sol with my wife. Lovely walk and really quick to the sol. Game changer. Only problem is.......already, the rubbish on the bridge. McDonald's cartons, Greggs wrappers just left on the bridge. Was a bit scruffy already. Can people not take pride in anything nowadays??

Walked over new footbridge before the match on Saturday. I walked from town side and got talking to a couple Millie and Keith (about my age) and we walked together and when we came off the bridge (was amazed at how wide it is) went round The Sheepfolds before entering the ground. Was really impressed with all that was going on. I liked that on the floor of the bridge is a row of names of all ships built on the wear, that is a nice touch.

That doesn't sound right.
Can't be many other clubs in the country who have as many drinking establishments within walking radius of the ground as us
I've said it for years but moreso now than ever we should be up there as one of the best ranked away days in the country nowadays. With probably the best approach to any ground to boot aswell.

Finally had a mooch over this evening after work with the Mrs. Walked from the SOL to City Hall and shaved off at least 13-15 mins off my usual commute. Was in Keel Square in no time.

Canny walk back too after we had something to eat and it was getting dark, tell you what some of those lights on the bridge are mega bright like 😂.

Loads of people crossing the bridge in both directions too, which was great to see.

With the new bridge open we will sometimes be having food at one of the Sheepfolds restaurants before shows at the Empire because it is now so much easier to walk between the two areas.

It's smart as out Sheepfolds. Nothing like my old school dinner hall and they serve more than Vaux.
Yeah, I forget that people go out for food.
Someone will need to talk Herbs down off the new bridge when he pays for a pie at proppa
I don’t buy food out, aren’t you listening?
Wouldn’t go to the Sheepfolds during a drinking session as the beer choices are not good and always too cold.
Finally, someone who shares my hatred of cold beer. Unless you mean the sheepfolds is too cold.
That doesn't sound right.

My approach is up Roker Avenue. Not quite the same impact.

Newcastle probably the best admittedly, and it’s one thing I used to be very jealous of walking to and from places like the dun cow or the isis at a freezing cold February game. Not so much a chore now with the new bridge.
