Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Not to the revised timeline, but I am pretty sure it should have been fully open before the temporary opening for the Women’s Rugby according to the original plan.
Programmes on major projects dont just get shifted willy nilly, it will have been for reasons agreed as fair to all. Theyve done a great job getting it built

Didn't they have to come up with an innovative way to strengthen support/foundations/something in the beginning, due to the river banks not being strong enough to do conventional works? I seem to remember something like that being said, and that it was more challenging than first thought. If that's the case, they've done a he'll of a job to put it where it is.

I seem to recall they had to use a technique never used before to drill and get the foundations into place.

I seem to recall advice given to me many years ago relating to project management.
The final 10% gives you 90% of the hassle.
I found that to be a fair assessment, getting things finished to specification and signed off was always the hardest part.

yeah it was a world first

The bridge went up last year, didn’t it?

So this year has been fitting the railings and the decking, doing the electrics and doing the connecting walkways.

I can’t see much difference today to what state it was in one, three or five months ago tbh.
Just because you can't see doesn't mean it's been slow. You don't expect a house to be finished just because the bricks are up and the roof is on.

Have you seen the work done inside the bridge ?
