Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Never said there was anything wrong with it. Just can't understand the clamour people seem to have to go over a bridge as soon as it opens. I think it'll be a good addition, should shave some time off my journey to the match so I'd definitely use it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go over a bridge if I wasn't going somewhere on the other side of it or if there was a quicker way to get where I'm going. Fair enough like, just think it's strange to want to cross it early just because it's there
Its strange you find it strange tbh quite normal human nature. Life is not just about going from a to b in a logical fashion, open your eyes and mind be interested and curious my friend

Fair enough, I must be in the minority. I'm interested in it, and I'll definitely try it out when I'm trying to cross the water and it's my quickest method, I'm looking forward to an easier walk to the stadium. I'm just not going to go across when it's opened for the rugby when I'm not going to the rugby and don't really understand why anyone would want to just to be one of the first to cross it. Anyway, I just thought it was a strange thing, I hope those who go out of their way to cross a bridge thoroughly enjoy the experience

I dont think anyone wants to be first or expects to find it be a life changing experience but its not often you get a new bridge built in such a strategic location. I mean i didnt really get excited for the spire tbh but this one i mean theres plenty on either side to make it a good day, whether it be all the rugby events or the bars at keel square, sheepfolds etcetc. I doubt anyone is just driving to the bridge walking over and back again then driving home,

Fair enough, I'll stop being such a miserable fucker! And aye, if people decide to go over it and go to the bars and stuff then that sounds decent. If anyone does just walk over, come back again and drive home then I maintain that it's a bit odd. But equally it wouldn't be harming anyone I suppose

You are coming round, by friday you will be on that bridge full of cheer

I guess you could say that about anyone who goes for a walk or visits any sort of landmark.

TBF you've spent longer telling us why you aren't going to walk over it on day one than it would have took you to walk down and see what the fuss is all about.

Original opening date was 2024, now it's Summer 2025. Will we hit Summer 2025? Or will it be delayed?
It was a forecast to open in 2024. A prediction.
The forecast was made a few years ago - things can slip.

As an example - there were a few on here who thought that the welding of it would only take a few days - daft twats had no idea of what was involved.

Think some of the delay was also due to the funding took longer to acquire , so things for pushed back

You're not fooling anybody you know, I'll see you there on Friday, skipping over, leading everybody probably.
I'll not be far behind mind.

If this new ad is right, it’s open from 10 tomorrow, not 10.30. Just in case anyone’s planning on queuing to be first…

It says 10.30. They must have edited it to make you look a fool.
I'm going to leave it until lunchtime to make sure it is fully open.
Might nip out with the drone at lunchtime today and get a state of play around the stadium etc.

It's for the rugby, presuming that's where they're setting up the fanzone, they've a load of activities on and they're some kind of interactive screens.

... On match day, the Fan Village in Keel Square is open from 9am, offering a host of food, drink, interactive walkabout characters and rugby-themed ...
