Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

I think in the 70s, 80s heavy industry was on the decline. Even though there was still a lot of work there didnt seem to be a lot of money. Lads would walk up or maybe on a bike from the yards down at Pallion, didnt seem to be many cars. Flat caps and those blue bags that had their "bait" lunch in them.
Do you mean the old webbing ex-army surplus havasacks that everyone used to have? The blue one's would be surplus RAF and the more common khaki ones were of course Army surplus. Being a bit of a hippy about town I used to favour an army surplus gasmask shoulder bag :D .

I think that most of the ex British military surplus stuff from the 40's and 50's had been sold off by the late 1970's. I did hear recently though that there is supposed to be a warehouse that's filled with unused WWI trench periscopes but I don't know how true that is

What do you reckon to it? been looking at one for myself
Fantastic. I'm a total novice and can get some great footage. I got the fly more combo and I think you definitely need the extra batteries.
Most of the stuff I post is me doing all the controls but it has loads of presets where you can get some stunning footage by barely touching it.
The 5 is due out soon so may be worth holding on to see what that offers or to pick up the 4 when it drops in price.

Probably wait for the Black Friday or Prime offers in a few weeks, it definitely seems the pick of the bunch in the sub 250g market.

Agree about the extra batteries as well, it would be pointless getting it out for one battery worth

Thanks for the feedback, appreciated

Me Dad had a haversack like that, he worked at Vauxies, vividly remember him coming home with it on a night

I had the names of fish on my haversack. On my Wrangler jacket I had the red and white stripes from a Sunderland top stitched into the top panel on the back.

A Dji mini2 or 3 will be more than enough for you as an entry level more than capable drone for 4k footage and quality photos. As with any DJI drone they basically fly themselves and very easy to use. I’m thinking of updating my mini3 pro when the 5 comes out, but the quality is great on the 3 and I keep pinching myself telling myself not to bother.

I think a mini 5 pro will be a while yet. I think the next one due for release is the Mavic 4

Yeah, certainly no hurry. Be interesting to see what they can add. The Mavic 4 will be a bit of kit mind.
Any photos or vids to see how it's getting on now?
It isn’t changing much at present. Once the rails and bed are done it should look like it’s moving on.

The Air 3s specs have already surpassed the Mavic 3 Classic already. It's lighter, has a better dynamic range, higher ISO range, longer flight time and it's cheaper.

I compared to the Mavic 3 Classic just because of the dual camera
