Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

There's a thread on PF about a Stadium extension, I know this gets regularly trotted out and previously if it had happened would just have mirrored the North Stand if the South Stand was done, nice but fairly boring in reality. But looking at this picture can you just imagine how good it could be done with a decent Architect involved (a very rare commodity)
The upper tier could be a fully glazed elevation looking back over this view in reverse with an internal wide concourse taking in the full view. People would be queuing from 5 o'clock at night to get in for night games to watch the crowds coming from the City across the bridge. Once all the new developments, housing and film studio are complete the view should be amazing.

It would be one of the more photographed Stadiums in the Country and a shoe in for Tournaments and concerts

Design it so it could be used as an event space during the week as well to generate further income

Agreed on the views but I would still like the South Stand to be all one tier if or when it ever gets extended, creating one huge stand.

I like the undercurrent of your post.

Imho we have to expand the SOL so we can continue to build the club. We need to be bold given how relitively easy it is cost and building wise to extend (thanks Sir Bob).

However, you are right the bridge connection means we can be really creative in developing the south stand.

As I said on the other thread, as Sheepfolds develops we need to factor in NIMBYs. Let’s get the South Stand extension up and be creative in linking the extension to the bridge in some way.

This! The South Stand would look fantastic extended with a updated facade to reflect the Vaux Bridge development

I Think the original plans to continue the Red Brick Façade of the West Stand all the way round would look amazing if every completed as below.

Looks decent but I'd like to see it broken up into different identifiable stands. The south stand should be one continuous stand, with a big glass facade at the height of the second tier so people can look out over sunderland, and a massive neon 'welcome to sunderland' faving outwards towards the town across the top that is lit up on match days and can be seen for miles around
