Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Good.

Another, more competent mod came up with that solution and I was just about to box your ears for whinging.

Fair play.
Aye I was whinging and was expecting a talking too but great solution and it keeps it all together now 😎

Though I wouldn't be against someone starting a Keel Crossing Politics thread in the Politics forum 😉

There's not just going to be people going to the match wanting to be one of the first to go over, there's gonna be a few who just want to go over to see what it's like, record it for social media etc.

It could end up packed given it's opening that time so surely they must realise the potential of many 1,000s being there wanting to cross?

:edit: this isn't a whinge far from it but it's more of a concern given it's not just going to be 1,000s of match day goers wanting to be there.

Hopefully a lot of people use the extra time it has generated to stay in the pub a bit longer.
We'll leave the town at 2.30 like usual.

48,000 at the match , how many come from the south side of the river... Maybe 30,000 or more ?

That's a lot of people to get across a footbridge in an hour

A Pair of Ultraboosts in a bag as soon as the final whistle goes may help. Get out of there and to keel square in 4mins max. Freddys drop straight down the neck. Oo-er madam

It's not just the footy people though is it? You could end up having loads of non match goers.

Thinking about it, I'd dare so many people will be hanging around on the bridge also wanting to see what it looks like, rather than just going straight across so that will slow things down also, as will those people coming back over if not going to the match.

Will there be people on the bridge telling people to move along or stop people going back against the crowd? It's a great occasion but potentially this could end up with overcrowding and delays for those like yourself leaving it late and wanting to get to the match.

Shy bairns get nowt!

Non footy lot will probably wait till after 3 to cross. Or the next day.

That's why I think 1330 for the public is risky .

Many people walk over earlier that that so they'll be hanging around ..I suspect a big crowd in keel square and down the walkway between city hall and the beam. Hope there's no delay.

Like you say, some will want photos and to stop , some will want to go straight across. Difficult to guage how congested it will be.

Just seems unnecessary, could have had the ceremony at 11am and open it at 1200.

They'd have to be crazy fools if they wanted to walk from the city centre over to the sheepfolds at 4.55pm onwards. It would take them an hour plus to get past the surge for beer going south. Probably end up getting thrown over the side.

We have a whole Politics Sub Forum to talk shite. This thread is about a bridge. If you want to talk politics, bore off over there.

But if they moved it to the Politics forum and the crossing was mentioned, someone would say 'this thread is about politics, if you don't want to talk about bridges, bore off over there'.

A little bit of leeway is needed.

Just said the same 48000 match goers
Same amount of public x2

Risky

Have ya seen the size of the hower? It'll be fine.

This is what it's been designed and built for.

It's brilliant news we have got the date. Bit gutted I'll be away for it as missing the Wolves game. So will be Everton for my first go.

I think they should be opening the bridge before 13:30 though. Even 13:00.
