Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Some knacker on tik tok was saying you wouldn't catch me on the bridge it was unfinished

Someone pointed out cosmetic stuff such as lighting and paint 🤣

People genuinely think the authorities would allow people to walk on an unsafe bridge 🤣

As you go over the bridge from the south side you can see the Stadium. It would be great if those at SOL put up a massive sign on the side of the stadium saying something like 'Welcome to the Stadium of light" so it can be seen by everyone going over the new bridge. I think someone else may have already said this a few weeks ago.
If we ever extend the Roker End (and clearly it’s in the clubs thinking considering they are appealing how close the development is coming to the stadium) then we need to do something unique and striking to the outside IMO. It’ll look class coming from town

Huge echo football to show a win or lose needed near bridge

Class idea
I'll put some better photos up in the morning but there was a lad in the same spot as me who is a professional and he will have some cracking ones.
He was taking them from a lot lower down so will have got some great stuff.

Great that the bridge is open and the stadium really feels connected to the city now but the only negative that stood out for me was the several low benches on the bridge which are obvious trip hazards when large volumes of people are transiting across. Although each one had a guy in high viz standing by them to prevent accidents I just don't see why they need to be there.. otherwise a fantastic addition to a City on the up...HTL

It's temporary thicko. Can you not see that from the way it's been laid... goodness me
They should have waited until it was finished, rather than have it look ropey on all the opening pictures and videos.

Still can't get over those new buildings on the Sunderland side.
Looks great heading towards the SoL, then heading in the opposite direction it looks like you're entering Gateshead town centre. Some shocking planning/designing. Huge missed opportunity.

Just been round...its shut again..thought it was open for 24 hrs. .anywayay thought I'd have an early morning run across.. have to wait a bit more

You won't be able to see it for the very average looking housing. The Stadium will be hidden from the north and south.
Again, poor planning - will affect "the brand" going forward.
