Bain wants McCoist because he is his mate. Bain will work with McCoist because he knows Ally won't rock the boat and will answer to him. Bain will be thinking that Karanka mightn't play his game and will be Shorts man. If they go to loggerheads the chances are Short will back his man and that would be Karanka. I'm not Short's biggest fan but I can see why he'd want a man like Karanka. I think Bain is try to cover his own arse.

Where is that from.
Gross spend 23m and net spend 14m in the premier league.
His first full year at boro he spent 9m gross and 6m net.

Someone was saying Bain was getting sacked in here the other day. Bringing in Karanka would be a possible sign of that happening. Especially if Bain was pushing for Mcoist to get the job.
