Karanka is about the best we could have hoped for and whilst he was with the boro I liked the way they pressed high up the pitch. They always seemed competitive and up for a battle. We obviously could do with his defensive record.

The downside is of course he ultimately made too little progress with quite a bit of backing from Gibson (more than he'll get here).

But I suppose he's in that bracket of where things might come good for him here - he's certainly better than some of the names that have been bandied about.

Who knows?
