My mate (works for SAFC but has NEVER really given me info before) just rang me to tell me this is getting announced tomorrow.

I’m knocking my mate out tomorrow whether it’s true or not. It’s f***ing 2:15 am and I can’t get back to sleep, the wanker.
Don't you start as well man.

If this happens, it would be a brilliant appointment. If we can get someone who can get us organised at the back and keep the forward line firing, we will be okay.

I also think we need someone who will toe a harder line with the players, and Karanka fits the bill. Bain and Short also need to decide very early on that if there is any player revolt like we have seen in the past, they will back the manager. Our players have won the argument in the past but have then slipped back into the comfortable underperforming routine they have been in for the last 5 or so years.

That has gone on for too long and only fundamental changes by a manager strong enough to do it and see it through will help us to turn the corner.

Good post.

Simple as that. If it is Karanka this smacks of Short taking over again and over ruling ZooBaldalot.
Yep from the recent video Bain isn't on Short's Xmas card list. No more jobs for the boys. I'd be well happy with Karanka. If he takes the job it means he's been promised funds. Whether he gets them or not is a different matter.

As in tomorrow tomorrow or today tomorrow, the time is confusing me.

Absolutely superb post. Last two paragraphs especially.

I know - hardly suprising - it's as if Short has been away on business in Florida and left Bain to run the club and make appointments, reduce debt - Short will have been checking his phone and websites every day looking at results and you can imagine he is a man with true fury at his disposal - Bain must have dreaded the Conference calls with Short as the days rolled by - he will have concluded his business and give Bain instructions to get rid of Simon Grayson with immediate effect - hence Zoobaldalot waiting for him after game -

Call probably went something like 'I leave you in charge for 3 months and this happens!' People in business at shorts level hate one thing more than anything else, and that is paying/rewarding an employee if they are performing poorly - so we will see how long Bain lasts.

Still, only Short to blame with another poor hire in Bain. Short does actually seem to know a decent manager though I'll give him that.

Arguably his biggest mistake was not sticking to his tried, tested and successful method of beating the drop after hiring the appalling Moyes. I prefer to believe that it was Bain who kept Moyes and Grayson as manager when both should have been binned much earlier.

So much utter supposition.
