This needs badly sorting out here, so IF it is him, hopefully he can do something, to our so called defence.

"He was sacked on 16 March 2017, with the team three points from top-flight safety and without a league win in the new year; while their defence was the fifth-best in the division"

That's fair enough marra. If it goes that way then Ill hope for the best I just dont see him as a good match at all. I see him as another ego, a mardy one at that, another Gus Poyet.
Unfortunately any appointment will be met with negativity on here. I'd always try and look at the positives. That we need to be more solid as a matter of priority is beyond dispute. We also need someone who is not phased by the size of the club. Karanka has a lot of success in the Championship with Boro' and he stuck with it after failing in the play offs to get promotion. The problem we have is that many managers with ambition would not take our job because who knows what will happen when we are taken over. People like Karanka and Lambert, while not being in any way flamboyant are what we need now. Suggestions like Reid and Phillips are purely romantic which are likely to fail very quickly.

I agree with a lot of what your saying and should he be appointed I will back him.

Until he losses a game, then ill come on here and tell everyone I was right all along.

Probably one of the better managers we could get unfortunately.

Pearson and SKP would be the perfect appointment as manager / assistant for me but nee chance we would pay the compo and/or would they leave current positions for this rubbish.

No one knows if Karanka is the right man for the job until he's appointed & has been in charge for 10 or so games. Any appointment carries risk. However, I think it's fair to say that if a starving man is offered bread and water to save his life it would be foolish to refuse it on the basis that he preferred jam on his bread and a slice of lemon in his water

aye some really boring 1-0 wins will be hard to take after watching all those entertaining defeats
As a boro season ticket holder who'd watched us fail consistently for years until he arrived I wasn't bored in the slightest watching us win and get promoted.
Fair enough. Only going off what a mate said who was a season ticket holder for more than 30 years.

When Fat Sam came in I think one of the first things he said was that we needed to keep clean sheets. I'm not his biggest fan but I think he knew what he was talking about. That approach is imperative now. I'm not sure we can afford to be too picky or precious about our style of play. Tighten the defence, don't concede goals, win matches. Stay up. That's about it for this season. Anything better is a bonus
Aye this. People say his style is awful but it's some of the best stuff we played in the pl.

Jesus Christ people are turning their noses up on Karanka

A lot can be said for seeing our club win games and being well organized!

Personally don't care how it's done or achieved, once we get out of this horrendous position we're in.
Because we are so used to playing the Barcelona way.

It's hilarious. People don't want managers like Pulis or Karanka but they want di Canio back! He's one of the best options out there at the moment. If he can organize the team and make us tough to beat that'll be half the battle. We have goals in team, it's the defence that's the problem.

Compared to who we're likely to end up with Short & Bain I'd be happy with that

Lambert, Strachan, Steve Keen, McCoist, McCleish, Bagpipe Joe...
