Was his football boring when he got Boro promoted? Geniune questions, i assumed he started with the ultra defensive stuff to try and stay in the PL.
Boro season ticket holder that I know said at the time that it was awful to watch.

Ally baulked when Bain refused to write his Churchill/Pepys breakfast clause into the contract: a brace of cold snipe washed down with a pint of port, followed by a cold turkey pie, a goose & a collar of brawn with a jeroboam of Pol Roger. Seems reasonably healthy, nutritious & frugal. Can't understand Bain's reluctance

What about the reports his football is horrible to watch? A price worth paying or just asking for trouble down the line?
I never thought that Grayson was capable of translating to the PL. Not a problem for now of course but it always felt like his tenure was limited - his ceiling was lower than that of SAFC. The horrible football accusation feels like something that could be put up with as I don’t think that Karanka has the same issues with ceiling. Additionally I’d hope that our attacking potential would stave that off at least in the short term.

I’d be very interested to know how he is with young players, though. If he’s anything like his old boss then that may be a problem for what we need right now.

If we are looking to go down the steady and boring route, I'd prefer Lambert as he does have a reputation of giving youth a chance.

When Fat Sam came in I think one of the first things he said was that we needed to keep clean sheets. I'm not his biggest fan but I think he knew what he was talking about. That approach is imperative now. I'm not sure we can afford to be too picky or precious about our style of play. Tighten the defence, don't concede goals, win matches. Stay up. That's about it for this season. Anything better is a bonus

We can score goals and have the players to do so. The defence and keeper situation has been a shambles from day one. The new manager has to have that in his locker. Whatever people say about him Kone plays in the middle until he gets his move. It’s finding a player that has the understanding to play alongside him. Browning has looked best bet from what I have seen. They need to choose a defence set up, stick with it and organise them until it works.

Sideways pass after sideways pass without getting near the oppositions goal and his style is possession for the sake of possession. He is liable to throwing his toys out of the pram at random moments. No thanks.
