Just looked at the League table

1 win in 3 will get you 6 wins....not enough

You need to win 9 from 20 I think to stand any chance as I do think 50 points will be needed

3 draws = 1 win, you seem to have discounted that possibility.

6 wins, 6 draws, 8 defeats from the last 20 will be enough to survive in my view.

More or less an extrapolation of what Coleman has achieved results-wise so far.

We need to win 10 of our remaining games that should just see us safe.

I had a sharp intake of breath, and was immediately taken over by a feeling of impending doom about my club.
I have never felt this low in over 40 years of supporting Sunderland.
Before you give me comments about McMenemy years etc, even then, there was something there, not a lot but I didn’t feel like this!
I am deeply deeply worried like never before. I just can’t see a way out of this mess, from the top to the bottom of the club.
Is there a way back?

I think after the Mcmenemy relegation, there was a feeling that it was an outrage and we'd come roaring straight back. A lot more apathy around these days.

We 'need' to get one more point than whoever finishes 3rd bottom.

That's a combination of wins AND draws, 10 is way more than the likely minimum required, moreover it is totally unfeasible unless we change the whole playing staff this month.
If you check previous league tables over past seasons 50 points is the bench mark for stopping up. So we need to target 30 points from our remaining games.
So you are probably right we will be in League 1 next season.

Hopefully the 3 wins for the other 3 around us at the bottom were one offs . Tgats how as bad as we have been we still arent adrift due to their poor form . Lets hope the momentum they have is temporary and peaked too early . Coleman has a job on his hands bringing in a few to help us over the line but if jyst 2 of those 3 grind out another couple of wins this month i reckon we are fucked .

This is what is also worrying to me, there’s no fight, no determination to do something about it....I’ve never experienced a level of apathy like this around our club ever. We seem to be on the bottom level of confidence from the top to the bottom of the club and at every level of support, concourse to corporate.

Yes, but I fear we'll have to endure a lot more shite on and off the field before we witness any real change.

Blackburn went down winning 12 and drawing 15 and wigan won 10 and drew 12 last season. Your draws are nearly to that total already but you seriously need to start winning games on a 1 in 2 or 3 basis

if you don't beat hull and lose at Birmingham then that's it done for me. by the time you hit 30 games you need to be looking at 30 points any less is below a point a game target and even a point a game over 46 may not be enough

I'm sure some of it is linked to the demise of the town as well in modern times.

Yes only 10 that would put us on 52points which should see us safe.
I was optimistic after forest, but after Barnsley it was slash ya wrist time.

I have already resigned me self to going down, so stopping up is going to be a bonus.

We are where we are on merit. The table doesn't lie. We deserve to be bottom of the league. Years of unsustainable signings has got our just rewards.
No one questioned over the years whether we could afford £10m+ signings.......Gordon, bent, gyan, RodWell, whickham, fletcher, Johnson, n'dong.....Not to mention the astromical wages paid out to all the players. We couldn't afford it and the club accounts now prove it. We should have had a sustainable business model like burnley, Huddersfield, or Brighton. Their income is more aligned to our than ours is to Tottenham or Liverpool. It should no surprise where we find ourselves

it’s amazing to think that signings as far back as some of these, are (if true) contributing even now to the root of our dramatic nosedive, put Ellis aside, and the real blame is not lack of funds but misuse of funds by countless managers and agents....going’s back to Keane and Bruce etc.

Exactly......its been coming for a while. Going as far back as Keane

Look at x3 different expensive signings we've got f@ck all for x3 different reasons. It's just typical of the wasted money

Adam Johnson -creep pervert in prison
Alvarez - crocked
Roswell- not mentally fit

Best part of £30m from the club's finances never to be seen again.
We never posted a profit in transfer dealings in the time since before Keane....., (except for one year under Steve Bruce when we sold Henderson to Liverpool)

The three you mentioned are the easy ones, if someone (and there will be) on here were to analyse closer, the figure would be staggering! Fletcher is another one?

When we spunked £7M+ on Gordon, some people questioned the value for money and whether we could afford it. But others replied that “it wasn’t our money so don’t worry about it”, well we should have worried about it and we could have spent about £2M on a competent keeper.

Anthony stokes was another waste of cash but Quinn labelled him as a signing of intent as we beat other clubs to his signature apparently.

I could have told the club that they overpaid massively on anton Ferdinand £8M and Altidore.

Etc.
