Just been asked this in the office (Newcastle based)

Bit of a daft question, you can’t force yourself to care about something you don’t care about.

What would be the acceptance criteria? Attend 85% of home matches in a season? Wear a gravy stained barcode shirt? Listen to Sam Fender?

Three phrases to become a mag

“I used to have a season ticket but not anymore”

“I’ve never ever supported Sunderland before 1992. Always been a Penshaw mag. Always will be”

“Wa need someone like da awab man what’s rown down at man shitty”

If i was selfish, i'd say no, stick your £1m up your arse. If i had that million my life would not change enough my life enough to warren such a drastic act.

But i'm not (most of the time), so i'd consider it and lots of good causes benefiting financially would sooth my mind.

What's the timescale? I could maybe support them for the 10 secs it took for them to perhaps score a goal that saw Man U relegated. Now where do I get my million ?

Rules are you have to go to all of their games home and away. Barcodes on for two seasons. Need to fit in as well so chanting will be required.

What does that mean though? I'd go to their matches for £1m. Maybe even wear a top. But you can't just make yourself care about them, or stop caring about us.

I watch a couple of American sports and have picked some teams to follow just to make it more interesting. But I'm not really that arsed if they win or lose - there's no emotional connection.
