Personally I think PIF have seen how go on like absolute fannies when you dont get what you want, concluded nothing they did would ever be enough, and said fuck this tbh.

If the events of yesterday and the continuing reaction this morning shows anything, it is this; we may be only 10 miles apart but the contrast between the reaction of the two sets of fans following their respective failed takeovers (ours with FPP), highlights Sunderland for the good natured, down to earth, humourous and nationally liked fan base that it is (not to mention long suffering).
Then we have Newcastle - the footballing laughing stock of Europe.

I totally agree with this. It's twisted that the only morality issue the PL have with this is one of self interest but I think it's accurate. Nobody to blame but the Saudi's then?

All the local journalists covering them are behaving like entitled toddlers - boohoo the world's worst executioners and torturers aren't going to buy us Edinson Cavani, wah wah the women hating journalist assassins aren't interested in covering Garry Bale's astronomical wages. The person who needs to explain what happened is Staveley. It was in the interests of everyone involved for the deal to go through, but the deal was poorly structured and presented, attracting so much more negative media coverage than it should have. The leaks to NYT and then the subsequent updates to UK media for the past few months were obviously unhelpful too - wonder where they
came from?

And Staveley. The way to do this would have been to structure it similarly to the Man City deal. Install a puppet not directly linked to the Saudi regime but under their control, then funnel money in through sponsorships and partnerships. Appreciate it's not that simple, but the deal was seemingly set up to be presented in the most negative light possible to the public.

All she is doing is trying to save face with her ME partners. Stamping her feet and finger pointing as she knows she has burned her bridges for any future deal. Her reputation as a deal maker is now in tatters.

I have mentioned the mental health thing a couple of times, I find it disgusting that they have used it as a 'tool' to try and speed up the decision.

Well that is my take on what I am seeing pre and post the deal being off.

Thought Ryder was telling people he had doubts in the last week? Seemed to be the only mag journo pouring doubt on it.
 
I quite like the stuff marc owen jones does on twitter (not nufc related). but the stuff he's monitored with regards the saudi propaganda and nufc has been interesting... this account, if real sort of explains why the Saudi Royal Family was so interested in getting involved in european football...

But he was just taking a punt was he not? Everything I read from him had no factual underpinnings? He was as much in the know as you and I.
