Julian Brandt

Been poor for a while. Theres a reason they're letting him go.
I'd not say he's been poor, more like he's finding it harder to be first choice at BVB because of who his team mates are.

The only issue would be getting up to PL game speed and physicality. Both of which are higher than in SOME Bundesliga games.

Good piece in a book by the ex Head of Data at Liverpool saying Klopp rejected the idea of signing of him because he wouldn’t match the physicality of the Premier League and they went for Salah instead
That's almost a decade ago though. Brandt would have been 20/21yrs old at that point.

He’ll have better options than us.

Host of CL clubs in for him.

Though I would have said the same thing about Xhaka before we signed him.

Let’s get carried away eh.
The link with the new manager might prove to be stronger than any offer we make particularly if we have no European games to offer.

But as you say it wouldn't be completely beyond the realms of possibility especially if he can be sold "das Projekt" by KLD & Granit.

Havent read through all the posts yet, but i have a feeling some people are going to suggest that a fella who was played nearly 400 games for dortmund and leverkusen comboned, approaching 50 caps for germany, is more or less in his peak and is available on a free, would not be a great signing?

you assumed correct

I live in Germany and my son is a Dortmund fan so watch them just about every week. Brandt probably hasn't made the ultimate out of his ability but he is a very talented footballer.
He will frustrate at times but can also make the difference in tight games with vision and movement.

I agree to an extent with him perhaps not achieving his full potential, or maybe the expectations put on him, but in terns of his ability he did have some serious competition from his peers both club and country.

It imho has become more apparent in the last season (or two?), where he's fell down the pecking order, that he wasn't going to be at BVB if he wanted to be playing regularly. But that doesn't detract from him being able to improve our squad if we get him on a free. As you say he's the type of player who can come on and change a game.
i only pencilled it in
