Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

Him going to Saudi is a totally different situation to them ***** being owned by their government, though I did lose some respect for him for doing so. However we’d be silly to turn him down imo.

We're talking about a professional sports person who put themselves up as a paragon of vertue. The pushing of equality and lgbt visibility when he was Liverpool captain only to jump ship to a nation detrimentally apposed to the views he claimed to have. For what? A few million more, when already richer than most of us will ever be. It's hypocrisy at the highest level. He either didn't believe the things be said or he is easily bought. He knew why the Saudis wanted him and played along for £££££
Fair enough. Respect your opinion. Just disagree with it.

His love for the club and our need for experience, could that be the reunion we need? (He was over the moon in the ground today)

Be an absolutely brilliant signing for numerous reasons.
A model professional setting standards for young lads coming thru,
absolutely loves the club so no hidden agenda,
loads of experience and no doubt has kept himself in good nick so will be handy to have in the squad.
Have a look round the premier league loads of players of similar age all doing well.

I’ve never booed a SAFC player previously, his actions deserve protest.I agree sport is broken in general due to money. No respect or admiration can be given to anyone who takes dirty money,it’s not as if they are short of a bob or two before signing.
Let’s hope he doesn’t sign & my small mindedness doesn’t happen.
I really hope he does sign because hes possibly the best mackem footballer ever and could be the difference between staying up and not staying up. And i hope nobody near me booing because i might use bad language in front of the kids or worse. All these muppets on here need to give their heads a shake

Don’t comment on people’s moral compass when they don’t agree with you and you don’t know them.
I didn’t quote you directly, my comment was on a general situation as being discussed on this thread, please don’t tell me how or how not I can comment, your opinion on my posts is yours to have as freely as you choose, I don’t need to know someone to be able to read what they post.
Please enjoy the rest of your day.

No mention of him still being a very very good player who would add to the side with his experience , quality and leadership. Sometimes you have to look beyond resale value and focus on the here and now
At this moment in time Jordan Henderson would be absolutely perfect for us going into a PL campaign with a ridiculously inexperienced squad.

But I think we’d all agree that his best days as a player are behind him. It seems to me to be the old Sunderland approach of overpaying someone who may not now be able to positively contribute to a PL midfield.

I get the experience angle and of course I have no way of knowing how much we’d end up paying him. But pre this regime I got sick to the back teeth of seeing players coming to us for one last pay day when their best times as a player were well behind them.

They also need to stop buying Chinese goods, sell any shares or pension funds they own which hold shares in oil/China/Russia/Defence systems, etc etc etc. Oh no, that will inconvenience them. Cant be arsed with that...

Of course his best days are behind him but that doesn't alter the fact he's everything we need going into a PL campaign. Quality, experienced and a leader. I think we have to add genuine PL experience somewhere into the squad and a bloke who is still getting into the England squad fits the bill.

I wonder if the SMB would think his experience was what we needed if he's 2 yards short of pace and the midfield keeps getting overrun.
Within 2-3 games all the love on this thread would be replaced with the usual 'not good enough at this level' chatter.

The big difference with hendo to the others you mention is he actually cares about the club and will be doing everything he can possibly do to keep us up. I'd even suggest he would play for a lot less than people on he think he'd want. We can't stay up playing young inexperience lads we need at least 2-3 players who have 5-10 years playing top level football, hendo is one of them and I'd say a low risk option.

100%. There are lots of players in the European leagues who are younger and better options and keen to play in the PL.

We should be looking forward and not nostalgically backwards.

Hell, let's sign Vardy too - lots of experience.

This makes no sense at all.

You make an assumption that because he cares he'll do more than others - the others also get paid, are professionals, and want to build their profile/reputation.

Or he could be exactly what we need. The current England manager also deems him good enough

Growing in the 80s, a few of my mates’ dads went to Saudi to work. Nobody cared then or gave the kids or their dads a hard time. It was a murderous regime back then too. What’s the issue?
Were they multi-millionaires? The world was a very different place then, with less knowledge on pretty much every subject.

It couldn't be any further removed from the vastly rich footballing scenario.

I have no problem with Max Power going there for one last payday. It's basically a pension for an average footballer who won't have earned a fortune.

I perhaps would have gone to Saudi for a kings random myself but I would have had the brains to realise I was selling my soul to the devil!

It never hurt Robert Johnson (well other than him dying like - but other than that….)
Bookmarked
Good lad.
