Jordan Henderson (signed for Brentford)

I can see this happening on the last day of the transfer window if we can’t get in our 3rd or 4th midfield choices.

Let’s be honest, his legs had gone during the last season he was at Liverpool, and I’m quite sure he won’t have improved since.
He will want his move sorted soon

The perfect signing to be honest. Get this done early, continue the buzz about the place and set us up nicely for the rest of the summer. Absolute no brainer personally, one of our weakest areas this year has been ball retention and he's been one of the best in the world at it over the last decade. Incredible value off the pitch too

Thomas Tuchel has also mentioned his value to England off the pitch.

STOP! You are a lone negative voice
Look here I'm entitled to a opinion ,you are not entitled to tell me to stop
And existing English International
He’s the modern day Steve Bould. Keep us up for one season is all we need

Don’t get the logic of your opinion at all
The only reason he would come back to Sunderland is because he has earned so much he can afford to.

Again irrational logic.
We would not be buying him from the Saudis, Saudis would not be paying him, he is not Saudi.
Newcastle are owned by the Saudi state, its direct involvement.
On the basis of your argument you would not put petrol in your car.
Now if you dislike anyone who has worked in Saudi that’s your choice but it’s got bugger all to do with comparing Sunderland values to Newcastles.
I'm comparing Hendersons values to the skunks slightly different I'd say

it's a bit of a no brainer really. as much as youth has brought us this far we need some experienced heads in the group next season. nothing daft like the journeyman galore of previous years but Henderson - who's still playing for England, would be a very good signing. and you'd think it's realistic as if he was ever planning to return it's now or never

Would anybody not be worried that it’s there of signing and wage structure that ended in us going down to league one?

Youth is our approach now and he’d probably cost too much to be a rotation player. Obviously he walks into our side right now mind.

Before anyone moans I’m not saying I wouldn’t have him.

Makes sense all around.

As mentioned in this thread already - a 1 year contract with option for a coaching role thereafter of some kind would be tremendous.

Getting him confirmed as the first signing would be a real statement of intent, and would rocket up season ticket sales and feel good factor.

I trust the owners and all the evidence suggests they won't offer silly money. Of he signs then it's because he's fit into the structure.
