Joni Mitchell leaving Spotify

Look, they’re just looking out for thick people, that’s all. The self appointed clever crew already have all of the facts and so have now made the decision who and what can be discussed in public. It must be exhausting having to constantly protect all of the pea brains, that they unfortunately have to live amongst.

Not all heroes wear capes.
I think you'll find that most people are concerned about the innocent victims who can't be vaccinated or are genuinely incapable of making the decision for themselves. If you died because you were unvaccinated, I suspect they'd be less bothered.

Considering in post 51 you said you didn't know who Young is you've clearly been putting in a lot of research about his demographic and his listeners on Spotify. Very impressive.

I did actually go and research, yes. As I said I don’t want to offend anyones tastes but Neil Young isn’t exactly setting the world on fire with young people. His popularity is predominantly with older people. Which is fine - he’s nearly 80.

Out of interest what is the demographic breakdown of his followers on Spotify?

How do you qualify as a "young person" these days? (It's been a while) 8-)

"Fake news" is a catch-all term for "disinformation" but you can call it whatever you like. Regardless of whether or not it is a 'factual' programme or what it positions itself as, it is promoting information that is incorrect in regards to COVID, and it has a huge audience, it's a very influential show, so I hear.

It's absolutely not my cup of tea, but it is an influential show with millions of listeners. I can tell from this post of yours alone that I don't like your views, but I can tell that you're an intelligent person (vocabulary, syntax, logic etc). Most people aren't that bright, or as questioning of the evidence they hear.

It frustrates me when people push the argument that people are rational actors who can make up their own mind based on evidence. They're not, really. 50% of the population are below average cognition. In fact you might be familiar with Jordan Peterson's work on people of less than average intelligence and how they struggle with information.

The combination of a health promotion message coming from a source an individual trusts (let's say their favourite podcaster) and limited ability to objectively analyse it, leads to people believing things that aren't true. If this wasn't the case, companies wouldn't spend millions on celebrity endorsements.

Whether Rogan pitches his show as factual or not is immaterial. It is a huge show with a massive audience that happens to be pushing information that isn't true and leading people down narratives that are false.

He's made untrue statements regarding the vaccine's side effects and how the vaccine works, and had multiple guests make untrue statements about vaccines and ivermectin. I really don't think Spotify should be hosting a podcast that reaches millions if people where the host and the guests are making untrue statements that could affect someone's health-related decision making.
I'll try to come back on a couple of things I disagree with when I have the time, but I don't mind in anyway being challenged on my views like you have here - I think being able to write back a response in itself will force me to concentrate my views and arguments. So i'm looking forward to that, it just happens I am browsing before sleep at the moment. As you would imagine..I accept and also disagree with different sections of your post.

No worries. I’m not going anywhere :) Sleep well!

Within the margin of error

Spotify don’t release that information. It’s pretty easy to work out though that Neil Young isn’t huge amongst young people. Not sure why you’re choosing this hill to die on

Thought not.

Any hill is closer to heaven.

Who is setting the world on fire for young people nowadays?

If you set aside the Spotfy membership aspect its probably worked out quite well in drawing attention to an issue. I would guess there will probably be more people are aware of Young and Mitchell than some of the contemporary popular acts. Quite a few of the young people in my family (20s / 30s) like NY and JM having grown up listening to them through the older generation..

The hypocrisy of these people is amazing. They have a pop at Joe Rogan (who i'm not defending here) for having Dr Robert Malone on his podcast, offering a alternative view of the publicly acceptable narrative around mRNA vaccines. Malone is the most published Dr's in this field highly respected and had numerous patents with regard to mRNA viral treatment. The response was to use the media to somehow discredit him by using 270 Dr's to sign letter demanding sportify take action against the Joe Rogan. I'm not saying these DR's should have no input to the debate but there levels of expertise was certainly suspect, A vet , A dentist, PHD students etc..

Non the less the media flooded the flooded the story out even making it to Rolling Stone magazine. So Mitchell & Young pull their music in a defiance of Spotify. However they have no qualms with having their music hosted by Amazon! A company who have a wrong doing charge sheet as long as the great wall of China!

Rogan has since apologised for not having a more balanced set of people on his show to be part of the discussions but this will not help. The days of reasonable debate is over in a debate between a anti narrative Dr Malone and a pro narrative Dr Malone only one would be considered as a legitimate voice of opinion.

You need to do more research m8.

Quadratic equations were always a problem for me.

You could give that a go as clearly you don't have a fecking clue about vaccines.
I think your point is being lost here m8. But I was use the point you are making to further add weight too mine. Mitchell & Young have no fecking clue about vaccines. I would hazard a guess that they have no fecking clue who Dr Robert Malone is, or his undoubted expertise within the field mRNA vaccines. I would further hazard a guess that they didn't even listen to the pod cast in question. However, they do have the moral compass to decide that Spotify's airing of perceived misinformation relating to the necessity for mandatory vaccinations coming from a person speaking with an undeniable level of knowledge to be somewhat worse than business practices of a company like Amazon.

Any proof of that?

Aye whatever m8. You keep believing while kids die around you.
