That’s the part the authoritarian left want shutting down - absolute nanny state control freaks.
Look, they’re just looking out for thick people, that’s all. The self appointed clever crew already have all of the facts and so have now made the decision who and what can be discussed in public. It must be exhausting having to constantly protect all of the pea brains, that they unfortunately have to live amongst.

Not all heroes wear capes.

we obviously disagree on the best way to irradiate bad ideas.

My understanding from your posts is that if a person has decided that they do not want to get a vaccination that they should be cut off. They should not be able to discuss with others why they made that decision and also close any form of further discussion (by a wider group) that could lead to reeducation on the subject. We simply as a society pretend that they done exist and just exclude them for ever more.

I disagree with that approach.
So should someone be free to say 'I'm not getting vaccinated because vaccines alter your DNA'?

In my opinion, comments like that should be removed as it generates fear based on misinformation. That fear leads to more people not getting vaccinated, and more people not getting vaccinated leads to more people dying.

Self appointed clever crew?
To be fair looking at your posting history it is a good job folk do try protect you pea brains

There is a fly in the ointment of your argument with regard to the Joe Rogan Experience, as the discussion platform does not position itself as news - rather, an exchange of outlooks from guests who's backgrounds & credentials are given at the start of each episode. If there was a consistent and unchallenged grouping of guests with one prevailing opinion, criticsm could more fairly be levelled but I really don't think that's the case at all having been an avid listener for some time.

Anybody free of mind & cognition could make their own mind up after listening. Having listened to the recent episodes, I can be selective in my attention and credence given to JP's view on climate change and take a wholly different perspective on his grasp and views of clinical psychology...no problem. There is no need to suggest fake news is being "hoy" 'd around, when it's not broadcasting news. Rather, a platform for someone to express an opinion , or understanding you, on this occassion, may disagree with.
That's not true, a lot of people who haven't been vaccinated haven't been due to fear spread by such discussions.

Anything that doesn't have supporting evidence from qualified experts shouldn't be given a platform.

Rogan said vaccines alter your DNA - that is not an opinion, it's false information that leads to people fearing the vaccines.

It's a simple concept that the pea brains don't get.
Hop someone stops him from smashing 5g masts as well.

So should we allow people to claim the MMR vaccine causes Autism again?

Nanny state? or just ensuring kids don't end up dead or blind from Measles?

MMR take-up has dropped again - due to anti-vax shit.

What's more important in your head? Being able to spout unfounded shit or stopping kids getting ill?

What is wrong with not wanting stuff that is factually untrue removed from platforms.

Not opinions, but stuff that is untrue such as vaccines change your DNA?

Of course you're right but what has this protest achieved?

Rogan can sell anyone the lies he spews if he wishes and GBNews can burn their record collections if they wish but now Spotify have promised to display facts about the virus aytime Rogan does lie. I understand that NY wanted Rogan's content removed but I suppose he will be content with that halfway measure.

This has never been a left v right argument. As ever the right wing have hitched a ride on a few people exercising their freedom to have their views heard.

This is an old, old story that has been played out a thousand times since I was born and even bore that, but for some reason the entire planet have been engrossed by the updated version.

NY knew perfectly well which way Spotify would decide - they've already paid $$$$ for the rights to Rogan's podcast so were only going to go that way

Hopefully the fact we're talking about it (again) will mean someone picks up on the fact that (for example) taking the vaccine doesn't change your DNA

Yes, I understand what your opinion on the matter is. It’s very clear. I disagree.

Isn't that part of the problem? On the face of it the people he had on are/were qualified experts.

I've cancelled Spotify and moved to Amazon HD. So it achieved something, however small. I'd guess Spotify lost quite a few subscribers.

The message is clear, don't host lies.

So to be clear, do you think it's ok for people to say things that are scientifically untrue on a platform with millions of listeners?

Regardless of who he had on, Rogan himself said "This is not a vaccine, this is essentially a gene therapy."

That's is not fact, it's not opinion, it's a dangerous lie told to 10 million listeners.

We wouldn't allow an advert to say things like he did, the ASA would ban it. Why should it be ok on his show?

What he said causes harm.

Yep, no problem with people talking about anything on platforms like the JR podcast. If they're wrong they will get called out.

Your position that unvaccinated people don’t have a right to interact with society in the same way as vaccinated people is the extreme view here.

Let's look at the outcomes of your position.

  • Rogan says vaccines alter your DNA. People get scared and don't get vaccinated, more people die or become ill.
  • We don't mandate surgeons must get vaccinated against Hepatitis, more people die or become ill.

Do you not see the implications of letting someone tell lies to 10 million people?
Also, do you not see the implications of letting people do as they see fit but want to interact fully with society without any consequences?

Should we let people ride motorbikes without helmets? Drive cars without seatbelts? Let people get on planes without safety certificates? Drink Drive? After all it's their choice.

At what point do you think the right of the individual to make stupid decisions becomes an issue?

We do this in a number of areas and it works well.

e.g.

If you {won't make sensible decision} then you won't be allowed to {undertake activity}

Not Drink Alcohol > be allowed to drive
Wear Helmet > ride Motorbike
Get Hep Vaccine > Perform Surgery.

If folk are proved to be a bigger risk of spreading a dangerous disease or virus during a pandemic they should be excluded from certain places and events.
Nothing extreme in that, it is a public health issue.

  • Like
Reactions: Hep

Why do you now keep talking about surgeons? We're talking about a podcast on this thread. Your comment about unvaccinated people not having a right to interact with society in the same way as vaccinated people do was about speech, not face to face interactions.

Interactions mean lots of things, but it doesn't matter if it is speech or surgery, telling the world lies about vaccines does just as much damage. No one should have the right to spread information that is false, especially if it is damaging. I don't understand why you would defend the right to tell lies?

All over the place on this. 🤣
