John O'Shea

Arsene Wenger went in to Arsenal and did everything his way with virtually zero reputation certainly in this country? So it can be done.

Arguably had a huge hand in revolutionising the game too.

Keane was a breathe of air for us and wanted standards that far surpass anything we’ve seen since. For a first job and despite admitting to many mistakes he didn’t do too bad. So to compare him to Ferguson and Clough in their pomp is a little harsh
arsene weger kept on a lot of the same coaching staff..including the assistant manager, who was a counter weight.he alos kept on the same back four..and that allowed him to revolutionise other stuff...he did make radical changes..bit the he had a tremendous reputation iternationally having managed monaco and a visioary boss in david dein..

keane acted like a ferguson or a clough is my point..wanted to control everything as they did in their pomp..without having the intelligence to understand that they only got to do it after they had shown they are winners..

As a side note have we ever had a player win so many headers in the oppositions box without hitting the target? His ratio must have been about 90%, he often could win a ball especially from corners but virtually every time it sailed over the bar, uncanny! Reminiscent of what Strachan said about Lundekvarm (sp?) going up for corners " if I was the ref I'd book him for timewasting" 😁

John O'Shea has joined Republic of Ireland manager Stephen Kenny's backroom team.

O'Shea becomes an assistant coach after working with the Republic of Ireland Under-21 side for almost three years.

The 41-year-old is a first-team coach at Stoke City and completed his Pro Licence coaching course in December.

O'Shea is expected to combine his new role, which will begin when Euro 2024 qualifying starts in March, with his full-time duties at Stoke.

Delighted for him.

Good luck to him. He might yet end up being in caretaker charge at Stoke after we beat them next Saturday. :);)
