Joe Kinnear

Genuinely saddened by this, one of ‘my generations’ great characters of the game and what he achieved and contributed shouldn’t be forgotten. A relic but a good one of a forgotten age.

The young uns will probably only remember his time at our place (better win rate than shearer, and I maintain he’d have kept us up) and that press conference but I hope it doesn’t define him. Looking back, the confusion, the irritation and all that attached was probably an early symptom of that bloody awful disease that is Dementia.

RIP Joe.

As funny as his talksport interview was at the time, is there any chance it could have been any early sign and is linked to this illness?
The interview was a year before his diagnosis so I'd say that it's a very real possibility. Me stepdad was diagnosed with vascular dementia towards the back end of last year but had been showing symptoms since late 2021/early 2022.
