Jobi McAnuff

Probably because he made about 5% of his appearances in the Premier League as a player. And yes, I do think that matters, as we’ve seen this season they may as well be different sports at times.
Well RLB played 0% in England but is a better manager than Rooney. So that theory doesn't work.

It seems people are more impressed by a big name who played at very top than a pundit who is knowledgeable because he didn't.
It doesn’t matter how many games you play in any division if you can’t string a sentance like Rooney or just shout cliches like McCoist, Shearer and McManaman.

They’re unbearable to listen to and this fella shows them up.
When did Ally McCoist play in the Premier League? He only had 2 seasons with us in the early 80's. So the idea that you have to had played in the Premier League isn't a qualification to be a pundit!!

Coaching is significantly harder than being a pundit

I prefer the champ pundits compared to the prem. Punditry is really going stale now particularly in the prem. I used to have some interest in what pundits had to say but don’t even bother watching now. Needs a refresh

I'd always assumed that he'd never played in the PL and that was why he always does Championship games.

Not that I think that should even matter.

Should definitely be getting the bigger games. He's head and shoulders above most other pundits.

But it shows just because you played at the top level doesn't make you an expert. McAnuff is a better pundit and more knowledgeable than the so-called experts like Neville, Carragher, Crouch, Cole and Rooney.
