Jobe Bellingham - Signed

Yes you do or they just shit themselves and launch it like Bailey wright and flannigan he never used to play roberts either
Well that's Neils fault for not playing him, TM style of play suits Roberts because it's more attacking and he gives all the attacking players more freedom. Batth used to just boot the ball under Neil but he doesn't under TM, gives it simple to someone who is comfortable on the ball

How many footballing brothers do you get playing at the top level?

You'd think there would be loads as they'd have similar genetics and the same upbringing, but I can't think of too many?

Jack and Bobby Charlton
Rod, Danny and Ray Wallace
Gary and Phil Neville

Must be missing a few...?
Anton and Rio

He’s hired because he plays a certain way in the first place. He’s hired to fit exactly what we want to do and how we want to do it, not the other way around
Earlier up you were saying he gets told what to play. For what it’s worth, I agree with this point. He’s hired because he’s good with youth and gives them game time. I sincerely doubt he gets told how to play

I've read that Pritchard was a waste of space and that Amad wasn't good enough. I've also read from our own fans that Ekwah was a liability.
I never believe what I read until I've seen a player with my own eyes, after he's had a bit of a chance to bed himself in.

A young lad playing in a below average, struggling side will most likely struggle. Put him in a buoyant, exciting team and he's likely to thrive. We've seen that for ourselves, over the last two years.

Just a quick glance

Make your mind up

Wow!

I agree, the football is chalk and cheese

I am not saying it was bad under Neil, but it was nothing like the football we play now

There’s an assumption that anyone could manage our team as they’re so good, it’s not true, mowbray has coaxed performances from these players, there’s no way Clarke, Amad and roberts would have had as good a season. Amad at rangers kind of backs that view up.

If he is in anyway similar to his brother, he would be a fantastic addition .
Moving away from the chaos of this thread, do we think this one is happening then lads ?
Bit strange for him to be at the Sol for such a game with family , if it was just for a day out

His favourite formation at other clubs has been 4-3-3 so he's wrong on that as well and we have played different ones when we have had other options available
We’ve never once played 433 this season like
No idea how you can't grasp the concept of he's in charge of the team and doesn't get told what how to play or what formation. If you watched the games you would know he doesn't always play 4231, he changes it during games and we don't even start with that formation in games. The comment about turning into pullis overnight, another pointless comment
Utterly clueless.

If he didn’t play a certain way and changed how he operated, he wouldn’t fit what the club want anymore and would be replaced. It’s as simple as that. Whilst there mightn’t be a contractual line which says play 4231 or else, there is a clear expectation that his formation and style suits what Speakman has mandated the club chases. Sure there’s room to adapt on a case by case basis, but yes he obviously has a mandate to do certain things, as does every other manager in the country. No one is just given total free reign to crack on as they like in any job ever
why would he change the way he plays?
that would be stupid?
he plays the way he wants..when the club were searching for a manager one of the filters they used weas style of play. But its got nowt to do with 4-2-3-1- its not that oprescriptive
There’s this key word in the sentence called “if” - it’s a conditional term. Perhaps you need to google it.
You are way overplaying Speakman's role. I assume he was hired because he's good with youngsters and he bought into our structure. However, an unepxected strength with Mowbray is his amazing flexibility. He has been able to get the best out of these players depsite having no striker and now no centre backs. You are trying to suggest, I think, that he little more than a puppet. Yes, he needs to be a manager who is not long ball like Luton and Coventry but beyond that he will 100% decide how the team will set up. I presume you haven't looked at his history as it has been well publicised that he changed Blackburns style mid season as his intial set up didn't work. You have incorrectly surmised that his teams only play 'a certain way' when its his flexibility that is his strength.
I think you are massively underplaying it tbh. There will be a clear mandate laid out for him to operate from, including style and things. How else can a DOF type system operate without a fixed formation to baseline from? How does he even know how many CBs to sign if he doesn’t know whether we want to play 3 or 4 at the back? How does he know whether to sign proper wingers if we’re playing a traditional 352 for instance?

There won’t be a cast iron you must be 4231 every single game, but there will be an expectation that selection revolves around a 4231, playing a passing, counter attacking style with a high press or whatever the finer details they’ve focus on are. Otherwise the DOF approach cannot begin to operate successfully
