Jobe Bellingham - Signed

He's 17. Very unlikely he'll be ready. He's made 22 championship appearances though which is good going.

He's talented. Maybe not as talented as his brother but still very good at 17. Might not be as involved in games should we go up but will still be in and around the squad.

In possession, we could absolutely line up like that. Used a mixture of loaned and injured players to illustrate this.

————————Ballard Batth
———Hume —————Neil ———-Cirkin
Roberts Amad Stewart Pritchard Clarke
That would be absolutely brilliant in the PL and would definitely not get picked off on the break by better teams than us
Agreed a lot of gimps on twitter are going on like he starts for us next season alongside evans or even refuse michut to sign him
Give us a full preseason and we’ll have him better than his brother. No sweat for these coaches

I know nothing about the lad, but surely he is not moving home to play for Sunderland under 23s?

We’ve seen plenty of times how it would happen. Like when Fulham went down a couple of years ago, or Bournemouth, or Blackpool. There’s a world of difference between playing this way when you have one of the best squads in the championship and one of the worst squads in the premier league. Thinking anything else is delusion really

Reckon he’d cut it in the PL? I’m not convinced yet - looks a bit too rash at times , but definite potential there

so strange
No chance, he's not leaving to go backwards. I also reckon him signing will mean either Matete will be sold, or Michut won't be signed permanently.

Yeah good points on both

I think people need to look at the likes of Ekwah.
Hadn't started a senior game when he signed - now look at him.
Reckon we really need to give our recruitment and and coaching teams a bit more credit.
They obviously know more than we do as fans and see Jobe's role and abilities in the grand scheme of planning.
I agree with the sentiments of many though - not signing Michut as well would be a huge mistake.
He's a different player to Jobe.
Having seen our injuries this season, a bigger squad is massively important - irrespective of what league we are in.

I’d have thought having 5 behind the ball would help against that. Always a worry when you’re in possession though.

What ruing you suggest to protect against that?

To be honest I would rather a ropey time in the premiership rather than break the model on how we recruit and play.

This season in terms of personnel, performances and attacking play have been a breath of fresh air and I would rather come back down (if we went up) than to go back to the days of paying through the back teeth for some wanker that doesn't want to be in the north east and doesn't give a shit.

From the reports I’ve read about him, the general consensus is that he’s developing slower than his brother was but the ceiling is just as high. There’s a reason why Liverpool, Dortmund, Man Utd etc want him.

I know for a fact he was our number 1 target last summer, assume the same applies this summer, just with more of a fee attached!

As I’ve already suggested we’d need to go a 4-3-3 and have 3 proper midfielders on the pitch. A bit of defensively solidity doesn’t have to come at the cost of being ultra negative, but we have to be more cautious if we move up.

Reports I read a while ago before Jude went to Germany was that Jobe was head and shoulders above Jude as an 11-15 yr old...he was the better of the two. Jude has progressed pretty rapidly since he turned 16 though

He must be signing or close to signing as being at our game and all the noise about him signing etc would've been squashed at Birmingham's end by now. Can you imagine this place if one of our highly thought of youngsters was at a championship playoff game after our season had finished being heavily linked, we'd be kicking off non stop to the point the club would had to have released a statement. He must be signing or heck already signed giving the noises from the media too.
