Jobe Bellingham - Signed

I doubt anyone would be paying £3m for him at this stage of his career if not for who his brother is and how similar he looks to him.

However, for the same reasons, if he's even half decent the hype will be off the scale and he'll be worth a fortune!
Dodds and speakman will have seen his development since being a kid. They'll have an idea of how good he can be amd we wouldn't buy somebody just for his last name. We are too shrewd for that.

This will look disgusting on people's screens but it's some of the per 90 stats from this season for comparison and to get a sense of the type of player he might be
Funny one that, obviously a different type of player to Michut but apart from being better in the air none of those stats stand out. Ekwah looking like a world beater though.

The thing I’m going to hate about this signing is that there is going to a large proportion of our fan base comparing him to his brother.

Already seeing things in socials such as “name tax” etc.

Sunderland this past year has signed players using a clear strategy and philosophy, every single signing has been well thought through & nearly all of them have been a success so far.

He hasn’t just been signed because of his last name, some people need to take a step back and remember that this football club are totally different to the one that we where 3/4 years ago.

I’m excited to see how well he can do, the fact that we have won his signature with our plan for his development over the likes of other elite top level European clubs tells me everything I need to know about where we are heading as a football club.

One caveat with Ekwah's (and actually Bellingham's) is that limited game time can be skewed by a couple of really strong (or poor) performances. Probably need a few more games to get a real sense of their data
