Is that you in the avatar ?I've seen him a few times when the U18s have been playing at Evenwood.
He gave my lad a pat on the back after one match. I was chuffed but I had to explain to my son who he is (he's 13 so Monty's playing days were a bit before his time).
It's what I aspire to be.Is that you in the avatar ?

....and Wearmouth was the venue for Leighton James' debut for Whitburn CC....Back in the day, he used to play for Wearmouth, as did Gary Rowell.

Dunno about Glamorgan IIs but he more than held his own in the old Durham Senior League. He used to bat 4 or 5 I think for Whitburn.Leighton James was a tidy opening bat.
Glamorgan Seconds at one point, I believe
Opened against us for Whitburn seconds. Tidy, compact bat.Dunno about Glamorgan IIs but he more than held his own in the old Durham Senior League. He used to bat 4 or 5 I think for Whitburn.
Bet he chuntered as wellOpened against us for the seconds. I had him caught behind.
I played for Eppleton.Bet he chuntered as well. He was middle order for the 1st team but could have batted anywhere. Excellent footwork and hand-eye co-ordination. He was regularly out on the lash with the younger players. Different times.
Who did you play for?
It was. I think we took the Village Ground for granted a bit. Wasn't until I played away from the NE that I realized how much work in the 50s and 60s built the club.I played for Eppleton.
Whitburn was a lovely place to play.
