He’d have been starting games for Liverpool as they had no fit RB’s at the time and would’ve backed himself to keep the spot. I’m also not that convinced by him as a CB.

For me we’ve only really got Ballard, Alderete & Mukiele who can play CB before there’s a serious drop in quality.

We’ve been pretty fortunate with CB availability this season but really we’ve only got two that would be premier league quality week in week out. Mukiele isn’t really a CB despite being very capable there and Geertruida isn’t really a CB either albeit he’s versatile and good enough to be an option. The only other CB is O’Nien who is great for versatility and character but who ideally would be 5th choice. I think we will definitely be after a LCB but it might not be Lucumi now.

Not really but we had Omar already when we were trying to buy him.

Given the injuries to Reinildo, Ballard and Alderete, they would have both played a lot instead of Hume as a LB or LON filling in. Longer term we need more quality in the back line, but you are probably right in suggesting it's likely to be an up and coming prospects rather than another fully formed international.

LB is a head scratcher. No doubt Reinildo is as good as it gets, but his AV red mist, AFCON and then injury have seen him miss a lot of games
Also he isn’t getting younger. When he’s fit he is likely to be picked though
Really want us to have someone who can step up when Xhaka isnt available. He is the biggest issue right now imo. We look lost, insipid without him. Not a lot of options available but maybe Ghisolfi has a few rabbits in his hat

Reinildo starts every time for me; he's everywhere on the pitch and it just makes a massive difference when we're on the ball. We seemed to overload in every area earlier in the season, not this tepid rubbish were suffering now.

Reinildo really is exceptional. I've never seen a LB have as much impact and influence on a game for us as he does.

He's a truly elite player that shouldn't be within a million miles of a newly promoted side in all honesty.

We're very lucky to have him.

The first choice areas of relative weakness are only really the wings and CF and that’s a little harsh on Brobbey as well as potentially premature for left side with Angulo looking promising and Talbi developing into a potentially excellent player. I’d expect RW, CF and another more 10 type to be targets for big signings but after that LB, CB and CM need some attention because the drop off of quality is significan or players are a bit tooinjury prone.

dont forgot about Reinildo who can play CB too. Plenty of cover there but unfortunately injuries doesnt helps. Those thing can happen anytime. need to manage them well to avoid injuries.

All of that is true, except one thing. Arca at LB for that full season was even more stand-out.
Albeit at a lower level.

No reason Reinildo can't play at this level for 2-3 more years though. Just look at Xhaka, seems to be the fittest player on the pitch in the 90th minute.

Arca rarely gets the mentions he richly deserves. He loved the club ( fans ) and got the 5hitty end of the stick by various managers, especially Reid
Lovely to watch on the ball, a genuine talent
Shame we don’t see more of him than we do of Collins, SKP , Borini
