Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Totally disagree. He gives us way more in an attacking sense from right back too
His biggest attribute is pace. We often sit in a low block because we can't trust our defence to be quick enough to recover in a high line. That pace across the back line gives us the confidence to push on.

Nordi in centre back affects the whole shape of the team because we know he will rarely be beaten in a foot race. At right back it allows us to pin the opposition winger a bit but doesn't impact the team nearly as much.

Ballard gives us something else of course in his aerial ability.

In a deliberate low block you want Ballard and it gives us a chance to steal on a set piece. When pushing on I would play Nordi at centre back.

We have one of the best defences in the league right now. I've not seen Lucumi play but I know he is left footed. I would imagine we are looking for Alderete competition rather than a Ballard or Nordi one so I'm not sure why we are talking about it.

Football clubs do not sign players in a strict priority order. It is far more opportunistic than that. Signing Lucumi would not mean not signing anyone else in other positions. Both things are possible and they are not mutually exclusive or competing alternatives.

Ballard, Alderete and Mukiele are excellent players. However, they are not immune from injuries or suspensions or, indeed, loss of form. Should any of these happen, perhaps simultaneously to more than one of them, then you are not only relying on the admirable (but limited) O'Nein, but also Hjelde and/or Alese (if fit). I'd be far less confident about maintaining momentum in such circumstances.
Never once said they did, I gave an opinion on my preference 😂. Still not bothered either way on lucumi from what I've seen of him this season.

Not sure how he watches videos is a good measure of how good a footballer he is marra.
I watched a couple of his games, wasn't impressed, neither have been a couple of others from posts I've seen. Easy enough to watch him on weekend on web. He might be back on given that Geertruida is unlikely to sign.

But the guy / scout that was chatting about Angulo mentioned another CB / CM from Brugge who is not signing an extension and will be sold this summer as his contract is up in 27 , he also mentioned another one that Arsenal & Chelsea are chasing so probably no chance.

Sunderland wont be getting him anyway, its all too late unfortunately. Im sure Sunderland will find a better one elsewhere.

Been playing really well again lately.

Wonder if we might go back in for him again this summer, especially as it's unlikely Geertruida will be staying.

We’ve been fairly lucky with CB injuries this season.
Fair enough. If we were Arsenal, city whatever, we could imagine 4 or 5 quality CB’s vying for 2 spots. At this stage I don’t see it
I get the impression Geertruida isnt happy not being a regular starter for us however was happy to be in essence a back up player for Liverpool had that move come off
Hope I’m wrong
