I've tried to find out but I can't see a mention of an injury which is a bit worrying.
He came on for Vitik, who they signed to replace Beukma. The other starting CB was Heggem from WBA

Sunday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport reports Sunderland are running out of time to sign the 27-year-old. He’s keen on joining the Black Cats, but it’s not given that this move will go through.
Prior to the kick-off DAZN in Italy interviewed Bologna sporting director Marco Di Vaio and 1000 Cuori Rossoblu relayed his comments.
“The boy trained all week after an injury he had at the beginning of the week: he did it professionally. From a technical standpoint, he does what he has to do, he trains with care and respect. Our position is the same, it hasn’t changed, and we don’t want to talk about it anymore,” he said.

If we aren’t going to be able to get him, I’d rather we spent around £10m on a decent back up centre back, someone better than Seelt.
Then used the rest of the money on a forward.

Can’t force a club to sell, we will have other options but probably rate this lad that highly we’ve been pushing all window. I think the recruitment has earned our trust this window.
They (Bologna) were meant to have crunch talks already i.e. Fri or Sat
