On paper I’d absolutely agree but if Bologna aren’t engaging in negotiations in good faith he has every right to be annoyed imo

He’s kept his mouth shut all Summer and got on with it. If it’s got to this point it may be that he feels he’s exhausted all professional ways to ask for the move

Either way he may not be ready to slot straight in if he does join IMO. We might have little choice however.

If this drags on much longer I can see a loan to fill the gap until Jan at least.

I laugh at Newcastle, not at Isak. The lad is too good for them and he should be allowed to leave as everyone wins: a £60m profit for the club, dream transfer for him.
Football is a business, players are professionals doing a job for a period of time.
Just like clubs want to get rid of players not good enough, players can desire to leave clubs not good enough for them.
I wouldn't mind if Diarra will want to join Real Madrid for £70m after two incredible seasons at Sunderland.
For me mercenaries are those that are running their contracts down to leave on a free. Helping your team to European football and allowing the club to pocket a huge profit from your transfer is good business for everyone involved.

Shouldn't sign contracts if you don't mean to see them out. He chose to sign that so he should be doing his job whilst there, play his best, not half arsing it. When Jack Roswell was half arsing it people were fuming and rightly so.

The club have the right to say no to sales, if we want him and they value him high that what we offer then it's up to us to raise the price. Again, when people come in and turn our players heads you'll have fans complaining just the same way.

We've had plenty players do the same and then pissed and moaned about it.

Aye, clubs have never been known to strong arm players into signing a contract that favours the club and hinders the player like

That logic applies both ways though. Clubs sign contracts with players then one day just decide they don't want to honour that contract and try to force the player out somewhere and onto a lower wage. Why should players have to honour their side of the contract down to the last day when the clubs aren't held to the same standards? You might say "well players don't have to accept transfers if they don't want to," but in reality it can be extremely damaging for a players career if they turn down a move a club tries to force on them and the club banishes them from the squad in return. Ideally both sides should expect to make compromises to find an outcome that works for both.

All that reads to me is that he has played great for Bologna and we have a good player ready to sign… if this trouble starts again when he’s with us that means he has played great for us!! Saying all that… I’m in!!

You do realize that clubs also force players out when they don't need them anymore or want to get better?
Why shouldn't that apply to player too?
If it was to the players they would only sign 1-2 year contracts and then leave on the free, but clubs want a safely net, which is fair, but also a player shouldn't be held hostage if good offers from better leagues/clubs are on the table; name your price and negotiate, that's how a business work. If the offer is miles away from your valuation, them fair enough, but Lucumi doesn't ask to leave for 5m or free, he has a €30m on the table, should at least be taken into consideration by Bologna if they respect him and his career
 
If its impossible then I hope a random centre half from somewhere is coming coz we absolutely need one. Wonder if Romano gonna tweet something today.....

Yeah, a war with Liverpool that want to take Lucumi from us for £60m would be a good problem to have. 😂
 
If Bologna are serious about keeping, give him a new contract and double his wages. Can’t be holing him to ransom when his market value has risen.

Difference was we’d have given him away we weren’t stopping him leaving he could’ve torn up his contract and walked into another club. He didn’t want to and sat on his arse. Bit different from someone they’re going to make a profit on has been good for them etc very different situations.

I'd a player decides he's not leaving then they can't do anything and have to pay him his wages until his contract is finished. They don't have to play them but they do have to pay them.

He's not exactly being held hostage though is he. They literally played him in his last match and he sautered about like he gave zero shits. When Roswell was doing the same I didn't see many arguments that the clubs don't always have the players best interest at heart mind?

Bologna can rate him at 50 million and if 30 million is offered and they don't want it then that's perfectly fine.

If let's say Man United came in for Mayender and offered a million no one here would be arguing we should do what's right for the player would they? They would be happy if the club didn't even respond to it.

It’s not though is it, ones playing training and someone’s trying to buy him, one barely ever played when fit wouldn’t move even when offered a chunk of his contract to go they’re both very different situations.
