Jhon Lucumi - Transfer Rumour

Would you be happy playing in a team when the fella next to you was on more than double what you are on?
And especially if you think youre better than him

I think all the players would understand xhaka being on more - he's a player that brings so much. But aye, Reinaldo , mukiele and alderette wouldn't be too happy if someone similar to them came on twice as much wedge
I think had he been here a while id get your point but he has just signed.
We are signing someone every few days I'm sure the new lads aren't knocking on the door for a pay rise every week due to new signings

Thats every team in every league in the world, man. Players agree a wage when signing a contract, simple as that. Whoever else is signed does the same and it'll either be the same, less or more.

You're also guessing what someone might think and feel. I'd guess, as well, that given our clear recruitment policy of going after lads with the right attitude, that Alterete won't give a fuck.

This is where it gets tricky
Alderette looks like the best centre half in the world , judging by saturday.
If he's on less than 50k pw, which I'm pretty sure he will be , he will then demand parity.
And if mukiele starts playing also.
They are all similar age and quality (hopefully)
😂😂😂😂

He agreed his contract less than a week ago I reckon he will still be happy with it, aye

The Italian journalist who reported it this morning. Nicolo something?

Thanks for the link. Sounds like a high salary. I wouldn’t be surprised if something was being lost in translation.
I’d think 3mil euro gross more accurate

The club , if ran correctly, and I’m sure it is, will have a wage ceiling and have players on parity.
as woodlebert said, it’s probably lost in translation and 3 million a yr gross (euros) which they will all be on similar

Just something that has to be managed by the club. Same as any other club really.

Yeah - if we triggered the release clause, we would have had to pay the fee upfront. Now we can negotiate a deal in instalments, like you say, to help us with spread the deal over 5 years.
I think that the additional issue with the release clause was that, in addition to it having to be all paid up front (which probably wouldn't necessarily have been a problem in itself, given the line of credit available), it had to be triggered by a certain date and that date fell in a different accounting period to the current one, which would have adversely affected the rolling three-years losses that the club is permitted to make.

My only confusion with the signing is that we just signed a first team LCB. Where do we play him? I'm sure neither of them would settle for the Sunderland bench.

TBF I think we had ambition with SNQ and Short but sadly every manager bar BSA was an incompetent doofus and threw money down the pan
We've never (in my lifetime at least) had top level operators in every position at the same time. We've had some top players / manager / coaches / owners but not at once.

We've now got an owner who has been brought up in and around top european football clubs,
A director of football who has consistently operated at top European clubs and knows how to do business with big players/clubs
We've got a forward thinking manager who is clearly very bright and has a great record of developing players
We've brought in some top coaches from Elite clubs
To add to that we've signed some top performing players from europes top 5 leagues (Xhaka, Alderete, Diarra, Reinildo, Mukiele etc)
Mixed in with High potential young players with top level experience (Talbi, Sidiki, Adingra)

This is not the recipe of a side expecting to fight relegation long term. Staying up will be the main goal this season of course, but beyong that we'll be targeting top half year on year as a minimum imo

I've never known the club be in such a healthy position both on and off the field
