The fact that Guiu was involved in Chelsea's participation during the Club World Cup, suggests that he is as well prepared as all the other Chelsea players who were involved. They would have been training hard between each game and Guiu played in two of the group stage games, coming on off the bench on both occasions. I would respectfully suggest that this must be considered at least equal to playing friendlies against South Shields and Hull and a testimonial against Hearts.

If he were anywhere near match fit you’d have expected him to have been involved last weekend. Two games vs Augsberg and Real Vallecano - didn’t even make either bench.

I don’t think he’ll be ready to play this weekend (certainly not start) but on a wider point if the club don’t sign another striker this window it’s a lot of pressure on our existing forwards to score enough to keep us competitive.

Guiu arrives with a good reputation and according to Speakman he had offers aplenty before agreeing to come here (Burstow had a similar fanfare 😳) but the fact we were happy to agree as part of his deal that he’s given certain assurances re playing time is a little disconcerting to me.

I hope he’s a roaring success and we’re all cursing no obligation to buy in the loan but I’d be far happier if by 1st September we’ve added an older more experienced forward to help the three lads out up top.

Agree, get this lad and we’re good. I honestly think Gooey is going to have a brilliant year because he has the talent in midfield to supply.

Well with West Brom lad to Bologna - seems like there’s no obstacle to our signing of Jhon. Don’t know what excites me more two new cbs or a new striker…

In a first XI, I’ve no issue with two left footers

But our squad as it is, I can’t help but think the ideal signing would be a class right footed CB who can play RB.

Ballard and Hume are unknowns at PL level and if one of them doesn’t take it to it, it would mean we have a top level player to take their position.

Think Singo (but I’m not suggesting him as he’s likely beyond us)
