The one that took a slight but crucial deflection? He hit it well but you're going a bit overboard there marra.Utterly bizarre suggestion. Was a major factor in us winning the last two derbies. We don't have another player at the club capable of scoring as regularly as he can or capable of scoring the goal he scored at Everton last week. If Hazard, Sterling or Rooney had scored that it would be fawned over.

I think he was referring to the touch and the knock over the defenders head before the shot. It was impressive like. Probably is going over the top like. The one that took a slight but crucial deflection? He hit it well but you're going a bit overboard there marra.

I certainly agree that he made poyets system fall apart. I believe he got enough draws and made us hard enough to beat for us to go down. Defoe made him change his system etc and we just crumbledControversial view, but his signing has been a disaster.
Not so much as a player: despite being four years past his (pretty average) best, he's still our best goalscorer and an alright player.
But he turned Poyet's grinding, but solid, team into a complete shambles as Gus fannied about trying to find a way to accommodate him in the side. Convinced if he hadn't signed, we would have ground out a dull survival, Poyet would still be manager and we'd be moving on with a actual philosophy and at least trying to play good football.
Even after Poyet, Advocaat was at a complete loss how to us him, and now Allardyce his.
He's on unspeakable wages, until he's about 63, and three managers in a row have basically admitted there's no way to fit him into our side.
A genuinely, catastrophically awful signing, which we didn't need and didn't fit, which is the biggest shambles of the whole Congerton era of awfulness.
Would take some doing but it is certainly n the top 10.Stupidest post of the century
Not really. He doesn't fit into a side in modern football, certainly not one with as weak a defence and midfield as us.
I'm a Defoe supporter and believe he should be starting 11 every week but there's nowt worse than people bumping threads when they get a sniff of authentication. Especially when he pounced on a mistake. OP is wrong but also makes some decent points imho.

Ive said it already Defoe would be in my starting 11 every week. We had all this with Bent! People criticising his game this is why he should play, he scores goals thats why he should play and thats why he gets paid big money.
