Jamie Vardy in the England Squad

Because he runs about and "never gives up"

4 goals all season and gets a call up ffs
8 Assists from open play. Hazard, Oscar, Aguero, Sanchez all on the same.... and they are feeding better Strikers than Vardy does.

Clearly it's a short term option for these games whilst the U21's are going on and we have a few injuries. But just judging him on goals alone shows a complete lack of understanding with regards how he actually plays.

To be honest mate, the way leicester attack its a scramble to get the ball in the back of the net. I wouldnt be surprised if only 2/3 of those were intentional

It was an obvious choice. He plays for the Mighty Leicester, current darlings of media. They have graced the Premier League with their style, and skills since last August, and we should be a little more humble when criticising one of their players.

We have a tradition of supplying England with great strikers.

Lineker, then Heskey and now Vardy like.

It's a bit of a fairytale for the lad as he was playing for Stocksbridge Park Steels (whoever they are) at 23 and now five years on he's 28 and playing for Leicester & England. He's Gareth Bale quick and an unbelievable work rate but the rest of his game is average at best for PL level.

It's not often you see England internationals nowadays that have started in the non leagues so good luck to him but I can't see Real Madrid prising him away any time soon either.

Aye, we had one like that. You'd know him well.

Ha ha maybe.... he gets the ball in the right areas that's all that matters. He's also won about three pennos this year due to his pace and getting two sent off against Newcastle is worthy of a call up on its own.

He's limited, we all know that but lets be honest options are thin on the ground. Out of everyone he could of picked they have gone for someone in form, which is what most fans have been asking for years.

Congrats on last night by the way!

Should never get within a million miles of an England squad.

Only 4 goals all season.

Sigh... he's not being picked for his goals, he's being picked for his assists. He generally doesn't play as an out and out striker, more often than not he's out wide, playing the channels etc.

Who do you suggest they pick instead? Options are limited, shall they just not bother picking players and leave squad spaces empty?

no real harm giving him a try out in a post season friendly; it's good to see them taking the U21 team as the priority for the summer. It might also give hopes to many a journeyman footballer in the Championship. More problem with Spurs squad players constantly getting in
