Jamie Vardy Documentary

The football aspect of the documentary is very good. His individual achievements and the contribution he made to Leicester City's success are phenomenal. He's the epitome of a winner.
More so when you consider how late in life he came to Leicester City and where he had played prior to joining them.
The personal stuff is less engrossing. He's a lad who had a few issues but he comes across as someone who is pretty self aware.

It could be because you said England might have done better if they'd left out their greatest ever goal scorer for a player who isn't as good..
Boasting a much more favourable conversion rate and a knack for turning up in the big games, Vardy may have been greater still??? 🤷‍♂️

All I'm saying is, it's not beyond the realms of possibility.

Kane scores in big games and has all his career.
One is bona fide world class and one isn't

Kane is on another level to Vardy man 😂

He probably is aye.

The one under. ;)

Naaa. I accept Kane probably has been the better player, but Vardy has been exceptional as well. I don't see why Vardy should be dismissed so easily out of hand given what he's achieved. Apart from a couple of exceptional seasons for Kane, they've scored a similar number of goals season after season, with Vardy outscoring Kane in a couple.

Both good strikers with different profiles. I think Vardy at his best edges it in terms of clinical finishing (and the conversion stats support that). I do think England could have maybe used him more, if not necessarily instead of Kane.

And Vardy has won the Prem & the FA Cup - something Kane might possibly never do. And I think we'd all agree winning those trophies for a club like Leicester, trumps winning domestic trophies with Bayern.

If he'd been England's no.9 instead of Kane, we'd have probably won summit by now.

Their career paths suggest otherwise. Certainly, Steptoe has done well coming from non league obscurity ( where he scored 96 of his 323 goals ) to PL status.

He's nowhere near the quality of Kane, though.

Steptoe's Record
Played 725. Scored 323 goals. 0.43 goals per game.

Int Games

Played 26 games. Scored 7 goals.
0.27 goals per game

Kane's Record
Played 645. Scored 436 goals 0.68 goals per game

Int Games

Played 112. Scored 78 goals 0.70 goals per game

There's reasons why Vardy is playing for a relegation threatened team with a 15,000 capacity and Kane is banging in goals for a top flight Bayern team with a 75,000 capacity.

Vardy's 39 year old man ya gonk. And yet he is still scoring the odd goal in Serie A. Seven years ago when Vardy was 32, he scored 23 Premier League goals as Leicester finished 5th.The next season he'd score another 15 and win the FA Cup.

How many full 90s did Vardy get for England? Six. Two of them on the left wing. Thirteen starts. Scored in four of them.
