James Trafford as replacement for Roefs?

How on earth are City making their £27m back by the way?

Signed him a year ago, dropped him after 2 games when they realised what a catastrophic mistake they had made in signing him, and now they're not going to lose on the fee?
Yet he's been very good in their last 2 matches, one a final too. He had a rocky start but it should affect his value

I think he's alot better than what some people think on here, quite a few City fans want him starting over Donarouma. Have a look on the thread on him on their forum, nobody wants him sold and see him as someone who should be their 1st choice for the next 10 seasons, yet most don't rate him on here, that's just typical of this place
People don't like him because he went on like a tit against us last season, clouds judgement. He is very good keeper, most of the league will be after him if he's up for sale.

If you buy Trafford for about £30M there's not a huge chance of making any future profit on him. It's just not our blueprint at all.
Not yet, but who knows what the plan is for next season?! Cementing our place in the top 8 and pushing for CL? Why not eh, this season blew my mind. £30m is a good deal for Trafford, imho of course.

I don’t think we’ll sell Roefs this summer. There will be interest from other clubs, but I trust to club to handle that cooly.

I have no doubt the club be talking to all of our key players and their representatives and will be having sensible discussions. One feature of last summer’s signings was that the majority seem to come across as decent and sensible characters (in addition to their football ability).

That allows for sensible discussions along the lines of ‘we’ve had a bid of X from (say) Chelsea. They’ve got huge resources and (let’s say) the Champions League to offer. However, their turnover of players over the past 3/5/10 years has been sky high and they’re a team in transition. You’d be under a lot more scrutiny there and they could afford to condemn you to the reserves / palm you off to some obscure league if you have a run of bad form. They’ve done it to ‘[insert]’

However, Man City and Arsenal have also reached out to lodge an interest, but not for this next season. Barcelona have also asked to be kept informed.

Stick with us, we’ll stand by you if you need it and you’ll build Prem League experience in a less pressured environment which you already know.

We’ll make it known to all interested clubs that we’ll let you go for the Chelsea bid price next summer (without trying to squeeze out another few mill by creating a bidding war) and then you’ll have your pick of the 4/5 teams who meet that valuation.

That also allows you to consider the various options over time so that you have a better idea of their plans.

You can choose who suits you best rather than the one that wins a bidding war, possibly at the deadline.

Now, some players (and their agents) would simply think ‘fuck that, Chelsea will pay me £7m/year now instead of the £3m/week I’m on but decent, sensible players (which I think most of ours are) would look at the bigger picture.

They’ve made it, they’re set for life. Career progress and ultimately honours will motivate them more.

Trafford is better than Donnarumma imo. Enrique saw his limitations, surprised Man City went for him.
One thing Pep likes is his goalies to be comfortable with the ball. Signed 2 who aren’t that great. If Pep stays I could see them going for Roefs.

That’s not true mind. They get the opportunity to sign one of the best keepers in the world at a knock down price; that’s why he has barely played

This would be the ideal scenario really. You want roefs do you ? Ok 40 million plus Trafford please.

No way we sell Roefs this summer like.
I would imagine most Safc fans will hope that he stays. But, isn't this our exact model. Entice lads to join because we can be a one stop stepping stone to an elite club. Come and get game time at Safc, then get sold for a massive fee and profit for the club. Players like Roefs, Diarra, Sadiki and Talbi etc will have been sold this idea. If and when those big offers arrive obviously depends on many things.

I don’t think paying big money for ‘established’ (I.e Man City players who are getting game time in cups) is our model.

I do think he’s a good keeper like (obviously) but I don’t think we’re gonna spend that money on him.

Would he come also? Presumably he’d have lots of other options.
