James hunter apparently reckons the fans have unrealistic expectations

Well you have a 50% chance of winning a game if you keep a clean sheet. No one mentioned a thing about clean sheets. That was Jack Ross.

People have a go at fans who bring up the Dortmund model. But it was Methven who brought that up.

No one expected or targeted 100pts. It was Donald. Donald also claimed we had a budget that a lot clubs in the Championship.

But we are the ones who have unrealistic expectations!

100% of not winning one if you don’t score.
Which would you prefer?

The thing is at the start of the pod cast hes said the squad is capable of mounting a promotion challenge, then hes said its capable of winning the league but not that its capable of walking the league.

But then hes gone onto say a reaction by fans to dropped points is dragging the club back and making it a harder club to manage. What does he expect a f***ing celebration when Peterborough fuck us allover or breaking the champagne out when we're an absolute shambles against Bolton, then Lincoln?

Awful stuff. We've been woeful away from home all season. I know we beat Rochdale but they were all over us and set the tone for the other sides, Peterborough put us away comfortably in the second half, Bolton should have put us away & Lincoln put us away missing a penalty in the process. We are rubbish away from home because teams fancy getting at us and they know we’re not capable of keeping the ball out of the net.

Surely any well coached side would be able to muster at least 1 clean sheet or 1 competent team display for 90 mins? We’re not well coached and it kills us.

edit - forgot about the shambles at Ipswich too, should have been 4 down at HT.

I find it very hard to get angry about the situation

Dunno if it’s just me. It’s vrry easy to spot the problems but we are so far from being anything as a team and club I haven’t the energy to get annoyed by it

This was always always my point when we in PL relegation battles n people were desperate to slag off Larson n Bardsley n co, we were in the top flight for 10 years, that’s good, everyone goes down eventually.

What we are experiencing now is terrible, thst wasn’t.

I did get the feeling that the echo lad and James hunter had a completely different take on the situation than the presenter and Paddy.
Now that’s either due to them having more information owing to their profession. Or they just arnt comfortable being critical of the club as it may get them in bother.

not sure which

Aye that’s fair but there’s a difference between setting up for a clean sheet and looking competent and well coached. Barnsley and Luton didn’t set up for clean sheets last season but they dominated games and therefore kept more clean sheets in the process. Adam Davies (Barnsley) & James Shea (Luton) tied 1st for clean sheets 18/19. We gave up chance after chance looking unorganised and it’s continued this year.

After an admittedly cracking start to the season, Lincoln's results in the run up to our game were 1-3, 1-3, 0-1, 1-1, 0-6, 1-2, 0-1

Bolton's results leading up to playing us were 0-2, 0-0, 2-5, 0-5, 0-5, 0-5, 1-1, 1-6, 0-0

And we're supposed to be content with one point from an injury time equaliser from the spot?

Aye. We should be grateful we're in league one as we don't have a divine right to beat anyone. We shouldn't have any ambitions and gormlessly accept mediocrity apparently.

Huzzah!

Sick of being shit on by a bunch of gimps telling me what my expectations should be.

We are in league 1 and getting outplayed by a bunch of piss poor sides. The football is abysmal and we are paying to watch it. If you can’t enjoy football in league 1 then fuck me sideways, might as well wrap it in. Bolton put their team together in literally a day of the transfer window and looked to have more quality than us. Embarrassing.

Sick of being told where we have came from 17 month ago too, they literally blew promotion with 8 games to go last season and also blew it in the play off final even though the other team kicked the ball in their own net.

Embarrassing someone is talking about expectations in league 1. Donald even said we were in a really good position to give it a really good go & we had to go up this year. His actions in the summer and by not sacking JR just say to me that’s a bunch of waffle. I’m supposed to lie here and take it because we are Sunderland and should be grateful to be afloat in league 1. This lad must be so up Ross’ hoop he can taste what he had for breakfast.

Absolutely spot on.

I can’t stand this accepting shite because we’re sunderland. Disgraceful to just take this shit, we’re so much better than this and if we can’t aspire to even win league one then god help us.

He also says that the assumption that the squad is one of the best in the league needs to be removed and Ross is getting as much out of them as they're capable of.

If that’s him getting the best out of them then I’d hate to see what it would be like at their worst.

said it weeks ago and was shouted down as being arrogant, a massive club like ours with our fanbase stadium and academy should never be playing the likes of peterboro lincoln who only recently got out of the national league and fleetwood, let alone losing to them!!! its f***ing embarrassing and a disgrace, unrealistic to want better... bollocks!

Explain how you set up for a clean sheet?

Talking more rubbish, we don’t have a big budget apparently.
He seems to be implying that we are just another league one club and should accept that.

I think we have to acknowledge that we are just a L1 team at the minute but no way in hell should we be accepting of it.

We are a poor side, past results mean Jack shit when we roll up to town.

Says everything about the attitude of the players in those games.
Something is definitely not right.
Is JR the man to put it right?
Who knows.
