James Brayne - Set Piece Coach

Is he in charge of the defensive side of set pieces aswell? If he is he should of been sacked months ago 😂

Defence has went from rock solid to as leaky as the titanic

10 games in:

Attacking set pieces - 4.4xG created which is 6th best in the PL.

Defensive set pieces - only 2.61 xG conceded which is also 6th best in the PL, but it's so tight between 6th, 5th and 4th that we're 0.16 xG away from being 4th best instead of 6th.

Top 6 on both attacking and defensive set pieces is absolutely massive, especially given our struggles from set pieces in recent seasons.

It wasn't that long ago we didn't even have routines from attacking set pieces and seemed to concede a goal every second time we conceded one.

The 1 goal scored from 130 corners stat feels a long time ago now!

Off field signings often don't get the credit they deserve, but Brayne is right up there with the most important signings we made this summer.
Where are we now?

Genuine question, not taking the piss!

It has been a massive fall off like.

It was a definite strength in the first few months as evidenced in the thread, but has fallen off a cliff since.

He might be shite, but we can't be blaming a "set piece coach" for defensive set pieces.

Players to blame.

Been a weakness all season because we have the players. We have the delivery and we have the height. We should be one of the best in the league at set pieces. We are completely missing the details. Set piece coach has to go. Get a good one in.

It hasn't been a weaknesses all season mind, that's nonsense.

Through the first 10 games of the season we were top 6 for both attacking and defensive xG on set pieces.

It has been a massive fall off since, but for a quarter of the season at least they were canny, and those numbers didn't include the amount of goals or chances created from second phases.

We should aim to be the best. We have the players for it. It’s far too often that I see a good delivery then no one in the right area to attack it… or a weak attempt, or a lack of blocking off defenders. There are details that we are clearly missing. Need to learn from the likes of Arsenal and Jover for inspiration.

This was one of those games where everything seemed to drop for them in the first half but again we are done by a ball to the back post. They obviously watched the Villa game. Hume didn't even jump, what's that about. Bad day at the office. We regroup and go again. Too many sloppy balls out of defence that cost us. Hoof it insstead of fannying about.

We have the players to be the best at set pieces? What makes you think that?

Height, strength all over our team. And in Xhaka and LeFee we have excellent delivery. But the details and implementation to get the best out of set pieces are severely lacking.

Needs sacking with instant effect this fucker.

Our set pieces are absolutely disgusting. Defending and attacking.

Not sure what team you are watching in regards to having the delivery. Out day pieces are lifting
