Jack Ross

Ipswich were absolutely desperate to get him in, and he turned them down for us.

Gan on Jack lad, haway

And a quick look at the Ipswich message-board suggests their fans aren't happy with their club. Apparently we showed Ross we wanted him more while Ipswich were impressed but delayed making the offer.
Reading the St Mirren message-board it seems, though very sad they're losing him, they think SAFC is the perfect job for him and a better choice than Ipswich.

after all the optimism this week we end up with John James Jack Ross.
While Jack has an impressive CV in Scotland, not so much in England. His only time spent here was a short spell at Hartlepool where he felt homesick!
But what really concerns me is that our new owners talked about wanting a manager who knew the League we are in.
If Martin Bain had made this decision, he would have been blasted from every direction.
The new owners have disappointed with this one and I fully expect to see Ross back at some part time Scottish team within 6 months.

My dad is a St Mirren fan and he's gutted Ross has gone( if true).

Totally rebuilt their squad/team and got them promotion in 18 months. Also has a very good record with playing the young 'uns and spotting young tallent.

He's told me to give him time and he'll be a very good appointment for us, especially in the position we find ourselves in right now.

Nailed on pre-season friendly up in Paisley was my dad's last remark to me:lol:

I worked on that stadium for ten months in 2008. 100% would attend.

After the grindingly tedious football under MON/Moyes/Coleman/etc it's exciting to see someone who understands that goals win games.

Appointing a defensive minded manager, for a PL relegation battle, is obviously sensible ... but we have to go out to win games home and away.

Great appointment imo .... the St Mirren supporters have a very high regard for him.
Well said marra

I'm happy with the appointment like but not sure why people who aren't are instantly being shot down. People are allowed an opinion.

not at all i know fuck all about him....what i am in support of is what these two new owners are trying to achieve....either get on board or fuck off....probably dont even go to the games like some of the other maggots on here

Oh for fucks sake, not that tired old diatribe, because we don't share the same opinion. Well I don't go to many games, nor do I need to justify why I don't or a reason for not. What I am able to do is share an opinion. For the record, I'll back him like I back any manager / player of Sunderland as I have done for the past 28 years.
