What is the obsession with bringing average players back to the club? There are hundreds of players out there, we pay scouts to identify players in lower leagues, abroad and keep tabs on players that might become available from academies from Premier League Clubs yet people on here keep dragging up players that achieved absolutely nothing with us.

As for players that have publicly burnt bridges with us after joining a bitter rival? Why, how would that work? Makes no sense whatsoever.

And out of those hundreds of identified players that scouts have identified, we have not one player yet inboard this transfer window...........so for the next topic is our scouting facility/team also shite?

The worrying thing is he is probably better than what we have.

He's on a reported 40k a year which will deter pretty much any suitor so Rafa's best bet of getting rid would be subsidized loans until his contract expires but my guess is that he will be with the u23's until his contract expires.

Less than 800quid a week. Bet shorty would fork a grand out if he was a freebie

BHH - he knows the club inside out and would therefore settle quickly which has to be key to any new signings given our plight. Footballers have moved on and treat a new club as a career move, the fans need to move on likewise and stop getting overly riled re players looking after themselves. That's what they all do and Colback is no different to anyone else.

Absolute bollocks. Players going from club to club is nothing new, the scenario here is massively different though. Anyone thinking otherwise is living on cloud cuckoo land.

If he kept his mouth shut when he left I wouldn't have a problem with him coming back.

Pretty much this. I had no problem with Bracewell. I had no real problem with Lee Clark tbh, many fans aren't as lenient as you an I though. Clark like with Colback is what happened afterwards and the way they played up to the mags and their comments in the media. People ignoring that are ignoring that nomatter what he did when here he wouldn't be accepted and would have to be amazing to keep away from even more criticism. It would just create an even bigger divide and more negativity
Even if he scored 15 goals a season from midfield, the minute he wasn't exceptional there would be criticism and negativity and he's not good enough to handle it.

Who knows. Scouting is limited by so many things though - like having the money to buy or pay them for instance. You could scout the next Pele but if he's going to cost more than half a million or other clubs are watching him/his agent is touting him around he's not going to come. It also depends on what the manager is looking for, position, type and if the manager trusts the scouts, also timing.

Sides pay big money for players who look ready these days even in the Championship. If there was hundreds of players ready to step up for the right money, without being massive gambles then where are they?
