Jack Colback - Millwall 2004

“It wasn’t a difficult decision. Sunderland are
always battling relegation.

“Newcastle are a stable club, and we can fight for the top 4 with a
couple of decent additions.

“I have absolutely no intention of playing in the Championship, and
that’s why I’m joining Newcastle.

“I’ll get booed at the Stadium of Light, but if Sunderland carry on the
way they are, I won’t have play there again for a while.”
Thought that quote was fake.

BHH - he knows the club inside out and would therefore settle quickly which has to be key to any new signings given our plight. Footballers have moved on and treat a new club as a career move, the fans need to move on likewise and stop getting overly riled re players looking after themselves. That's what they all do and Colback is no different to anyone else.
Exactly this. People need to get over themselves. He’s nowt flash but better than what we have. We are rock bottom of championship ffs!

Can't be, it was all over Facebook

What is the obsession with bringing average players back to the club? There are hundreds of players out there, we pay scouts to identify players in lower leagues, abroad and keep tabs on players that might become available from academies from Premier League Clubs yet people on here keep dragging up players that achieved absolutely nothing with us.

As for players that have publicly burnt bridges with us after joining a bitter rival? Why, how would that work? Makes no sense whatsoever.
Other than leaving is for Newcastle did he say anything negative about us. I mean really quotes not made up shite. He might have, I just genuinely can't remember.

Made an absolute tit of himself when signing for them. Don't care how much it was orchestrated by the Ronnie Gill, he pandered to it.

Hope he ends up playing for Dunston Fed.

This. I actually didn't mind colback when he left, he will have known he was going (and where he was going to) but he continued to put 100% in, including a couple of good performances near the end of the season which helped us to stay up. That showed a professionalism which, to be quite honest, a lot of our current lot lack even when they haven't got their next club lined up. When he left though he was so happy to pander to their media and make stupid comments that ended up biting him on the arse.

Because of the way he played before he left I wouldn't say that I hate him or anything but because of the way he went on having gone I'd never welcome him back

Don't believe everything you read on the internet- Abraham Lincoln

He's not very good.
Admittedly neither are we.
The way to change this is to sign more 'good' players not 'not very good' ones

I thought he was average for us and I wasn’t bothered when he left. I still think he is average but honeyman and gooch are basic shit. We are desperate and he would improve us, I am now of the opinion that we either go down or clutch at straws, welcome back ginger pyabs

It's ended up being true although he's not getting a game.

The club were certainly very pissed off with him and his representatives, I remember the announcement of him leaving on SAFC.com and they pretty much ripped into him. Be amazed if they let him come back after that, but never say never I suppose

Did he say this in an actual interview or was it something someone posted on Facebook attached to a photo?

The thing is he might be better than all the below average players we currently have. That's how bad we are at the minute.

He is very brave if he is considering it, every mistake he makes will be verbally punished. But I think it can work
