Jack Clarke

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

This.. Adingra is lazy, will never track back which is vital in our system, his signing was a big mistake.
Dear me
So far, it's hard to argue with. Feels like he never gives more than 80%. Clearly has technical ability, just doesn't play with any intensity. Doesn't fit with our physical style, but would love to be proven wrong. Still early too

I still don’t think he’s been given a fair crack at the prem, their manager has took over a year to figure out (or too stubborn) to play him where we all know he thrives, I’d have him back as always believed he could step up when he was here

I think people forget how in his best season for us he spent an afternoon in Trippier’s pocket. Move on
It’s truly like people don’t pay attention at all. The entire model of progression has broadly been built on picking up young players who were deemed not to have enough quality, had injury issues etc. and effectively giving them a second chance at a lower level, then profiting on the ones who actually showed something.

Spurs had already decided that Clarke wasn’t good enough for the Premier League, he was completely invisible when we played Newcastle in the cup and he’s done very little in the top flight with Ipswich.

Ross Stewart is a similar story. They both did excellently for us up to a point but there’s no indication they can cut it in the Premier League - and even if they could, it wouldn’t be at the level we’re looking at now. Clarke wouldn’t get a single minute given the options already available.

I don’t see what people think he’d bring to the team.

I think Roberts is another good example. I get that people have doubts about Traore but he’s head and shoulders above in terms of experience and ability

Nope. He was a good player for us at that time but he’s not good enough for a top half PL team which is what we currently are and hope to be for years to come.

Agreed. I think it's exceptionally telling that the players that have moved on to 'better things' haven't lived up to the expectations. And credit goes to the club for going about this in a clever way.

I'm not sure Clarke is better than Adringa offensively, he certainly is defensively though, however, ultimately we need better than both moving forward if we have any plans to be a force in this league.

Either way, KLD/Speakman/Ghisolfi will have far greater aspirations in the transfer market than Clarke.

Anyone have Clarke back? Shouldn't even be a question. Resounding no.

You’ve put your finger on the other reason not to sign him. We’ve looked for positional flexibility in our signings. If a player is only any use when played one particular way in one particular position then he’s pretty much the definition of a one trick pony. It’s not like ipswich were playing Jack in a completely different area of the pitch. Top players adapt their game. He just wasn’t good enough at that level.

but a great player for us in his time here.

Anyone take him back?

Looks back to his best at Ipswich. They’ve finally realised he needs to play wide left and not inside. We know he has the defensive ability to track back and what not.

Financially it’s unlikely, but I’d have him back.
No.

Loved his Championship displays and he was often head and shoulders the best player on the pitch but we've moved on.

He may well be capable of doing a job in the premier league but it will be someone else now

Back to his best is a stretch He doesn’t get many starts as that philogene plays. He usually only starts if he’s injured or rested

Nah. Not as good as Talbi or Mundle & probably on equal footing with Adingra.

What’s the point in targeting a 3rd/4th choice left winger? Not the type we need to target at all imo.

He’s had quite a few ineffectual games since then though!

I genuinely think he is worse than all of our wingers (including Mundle). Great championship player but doesn’t have enough defining attributes to be successful at this level.
He’s brilliant used coorectly man defensively sound and scored goals and grafts his nuts off

straight swap for adingra
nah. jack and adringa are similar traits. Work rate are less. Thats why RLB rather have le fee and troare on the wing due to thier workrate.
Agree about Talbi, I think he has the most potential at least. I just think Adingra is faster, has quicker feet and creates more than Clarke, he's not as big a goal threat like.
agreed. jack clarke is definately suit championship than Premier league.
