Jack Clarke

A club can't force a player to leave while he is under contract. They can't take the money till he agrees terms with the other ckub either.
They can't. You're right.

But look at this way. The club are happy for you to go as they've accepted the bid. It doesn't exactly scream "you're wanted here, please stay" does it. It puts the player in the mindset of well they'd rather have the money than me so perhaps I should leave.

And you don't know what words of encouragement the lad's getting to move on.

We villainised Bent years ago, but listening to his side of the story, the club weren't exactly fighting to keep him. So it gives players something to think about.

I remember receiving what seemed a fairly reliable PM on here years ago, which suggested Henderson and his dad never wanted the Liverpool move when it came, but the club had taken the money and practically showed him the door.

These deals in football aren't always as cut and dry as people think.

There’s a difference between a first team and a random starting eleven.
My Cottager marra whose ST I sometimes get a lend of when he’s on holidays texted me when their team was announced summet along the lines of not having a pint on the result because of it. I didn’t want a pint on it anyway but we did in the end as we have for decades. He wanted out of the cup asap that year, these days he’s up for a full strength cup team as he thinks they’re nowhere near relegation quality.

Wolves seemed to be picking up with two wins and a draw but have stumbled again. It’s looking between those two now despite the entire country wanting Spurs and Utd dragged into it.
If they can get the ball to Delap he can keep them up. If they don’t he may well be the record fee paid for an English player next summer. He should be in Tuchels first squad. Kane-Watkins-Delap. Sorted.
Depends i suppose how the new manager wants to set up, when it comes to england, i am sure he's aware of who's who, seems a very clever man, as for where he ends up when this season is over, i think, given his ability maybe a top 4 side isn't off the cards, or maybe even a club like spurs or who knows maybe even a club in europe like a move to spain or germany, and as for wanting utd dragged into it, i don't mind spurs, but it would be hilarious to see manchester united get relegated, but i think they are safe enough.
Aye - that mistake definitely cost them the three points like.

We missed him twice in the last few minutes v Burnley😉
It didn't but, learned a lesson, giving the ball into doku who provided haaland, clarke doesn't make that pass, or a better pass city don't score 30 seconds later, mistakes get punished in the premier league more than they do at this level.

Since there's so many football podcasts/ Youtube shows around these days there's quite a lot of former players in their 40's/50's telling their stories and I think it's fairly common for them to say deals were often done by clubs behind their backs and they were basically told they had to go even when they're settled. You could always dig your heels in but there's a chance that you get a bad reputation or end up in the reserves.

We won't know the full story until Biographies are written when he's finished playing.
I would love to know the full story.
Just think it's a shame for the Lad after how hard he worked for us.
Deserved his chance, but it hasn't worked out.
Mebee when we go up, we will need a bigger squad, and he could come back then, but it's a non starter this year.

Exactly.

The players always wind up taking the flak and people are too ready to accuse them of being driven by money, but it's not always the case.

I'm fairly certain a lad like Jack Clarke just wants to play football.

I'm inclined to believe this from @MackemMagic... Jack Clarke

Yes. It works both ways. Make the player feel awkward (train with the U21s being the favourite method) and he'll move on. On the other hand, the player just sits out his contract and gets paid for nothing and has the chance of a bumper pay day when he moves on or even manages to do a Rodwell.

Ask Ian Harte, he orchestrated the whole thing.

We never missed him that’s true but hes currently a far better footballer than Watson and better than Mundle

Im not saying them two won’t go on to be better than him

they are also both playing in a much better team than Clarke was last season
So how do you suggest Mundle and Watson progress?
This. Clarke back would improve us.

He's not had the minutes to prove that either way in my opinion.

He's in and out of a side that chops and changes every week, that's cannon fodder for the rest of the league.

The one game he got 90 minutes in he got an assist and they drew with Villa.

Ya'll not see the best of Jack Clarke when they're under the cosh every week, and unitl he gets a run in a settled side.
And yesterday?

Oh I think he’ll have his pick of Liverpool, Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea plus the top half dozen or so big clubs on the continent. The latter three English clubs are desperate for a number 9 and Liverpool seem to be open to offers for Darwin Nunez. Career wise you’d have to choose Liverpool but the others are more in need so may hoy money at him. His dad was a pro so they may make a more nuanced decision than a kid in the same boat whose family haven’t been involved in the game or havent a pot to piss in. Him and Isaak may be the big summer stories.

Who would be interested in a Jack Clarke biography?

Doesn’t happen anymore. PFA and club solicitors make sure of that. Stick a first team squad player in with the kids or on his own who doesn’t agree to be there and the clubs in breach of contract and employment law. Player walks away on a freebie with everything paid up if he wants too.
